Even though it's more than a week away, I have started working frantically on cards for Father's Day.  This is definitely one of my favorites.  I created the card with Stampin' Up! cardstock, my Silhouette Cameo, and a Fishing Vest download from Snapdragon Snippets.  I really like their downloads because they provide such great instructions on their website.

I decided to do faux stitching on the vest and found that the Project Life journaling pens were perfect for the job.  Most of the edges of the vest and pockets were sponged with Soft Suede ink to make them stand out.

Do you hoard scraps of paper?  Me, too!

Those scraps come in very handy in a project like this one.

This is a screenshot of the Silhouette Designer Edition software.  You can see that I have grouped the individual elements from the card in different areas on the mat.  With the grid lines on, I can tell exactly where to place my paper scraps.

This is a picture of my Cameo preparing to cut the multiple small pieces from the card.  I'm able to use up a lot of scraps this way and minimize my cutting time.

The colors used on this card are:  Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Mossy Meadow, Real Red, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy, and Whisper White.

Floating Window Card

I am ALWAYS up for trying new things, so I was very excited about the Technique Tuesday post over at Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration.  The designers (including me) have created a variety of Floating Window cards.  If you haven't seen this technique before, we have a great video on the blog.

Floatingwindowmain

This looks like an ordinary card from the front, but several of the elements are "floating" in the middle of the card.  See for yourself...

Floatingwindowwords

I used the Wood You Be Mine Stamp Set and Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper for this card.  All of the supplies used are listed at the end of this post.  You can print the recipe and can view the items in my online store by clicking on them.

Be sure to FOLLOW me on social media.

On Facebook you can see a view of the inside of this card, as well as ALL the pictures I took at Leadership this past week.

And on Instagram, I shared my secret for cutting out my stamps quickly and easily.

Masculine Monday

Today on Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, the designers are featuring Masculine cards.  Be sure to check out all the great cards here.

Masculinecu

I'll be going to Orlando, Florida this week for the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference.  That means I'll be leaving my children in the very capable hands of my hubby for a few days.  I created this card to let him know how much I appreciate him. (he looks more like the lumberjack, though)

Masculine2

The layout was based on this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.  I had to flip the design to make it work, but that's one of the fun things to do with a sketch.

Occasions Sneak Peek: Guy Greetings

Car1

I am absolutely in love with all the masculine stamp sets and paper in the new Occasions catalog.  I can't wait for you to check out one of my favorites....Guy Greetings.  I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the design.

Car3

I enjoyed working with this sketch and stamp set combo so much, that I actually created 3 more cards with it!  I'll be having a class in January featuring masculine cards and this will certainly be one of them.

Occasions Sneak Peek: Wood You Be Mine?

Woodyoubeminecollage
When I saw this new stamp set, I knew I had to have it.  The little lumberjack reminds me of my hubby....especially when he grows out his beard in the winter.  He's even got a flannel shirt this color.  Although, I don't think he's quite that bow-legged.

Wood1

Don't you just love a masculine Valentine's Day card?

You'll be able to add this hunk to your stamp collection on January 6th.

Quick Tip:  I used my Silhouette Cameo and PixScan mat to cut out the lumberjack image.  It's a great way to fussy cut without the fuss.  You can see my tutorial here.

Masculine Punch Art

My convention roomie, Kathy Alt, hosts a punch art swap at convention each year.  What kind of friend would I be if I didn't participate?  In fact, I actually made 2 cards for her swap this year.  I'm sharing the first one with you today.

Wrenchcard

I absolutely love the Chevron embossing folder and I could probably use it on every single card I make (I won't, though). I used just a small strip of the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP from the Holiday Mini.....see?  It's not just for Halloween.

Wrenchcu1

This part of the wrench was created by punching the Word Window punch first, then a 1-1/4" circle punch out of Basic Gray card stock.  I also sponged all the edges with Basic Gray ink.

Wrenchcu2

The end of the wrench was created with an itty bitty scallop punch and a 3/4" circle punch.

Wrenchcu3

The white label was die cut with the Apothecary Accents framelits.  The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen stamp set and I added 3 silver mini brads.

Isn't this a great card for the handy men in your life?  You could easily change the greeting into a birthday or thinking of you card.

Motorcycle Mojo

As usual, I waited until the very last hours to post my card for Mojo Monday.  This card also features a new stamp set that will be available in the upcoming Summer Mini catalog.

Motocyclemojo2

I made this card for my downline meeting swap this weekend and everyone kept asking about the metal-look.  Well, it is heavy duty aluminum foil that I ran through the Big Shot with the Harlequin Texturz plate.  Cool, huh?

The motorcylce was stamped in Basic Black classic ink onto Whisper White card stock, then colored with Real Red & Sahara Sand markers.  I also added a thin glaze of Crystal Effects over the red portions of the motorcycle to give it some shine.

The other stamp set that I used is Extreme Elements.  I stamped black dots onto the Real Red strip and the splatter onto the Basic Gray background.  It reallly adds a masculine feel to the card.  The Extreme Elements stamp set will be part of a Stampin' Up special offer during National Scrapbooking month (May).  With the purchase of this stamp set, you can receive a set of Designer Brads for free.  You can see that I incorporated the Circle Designer Brad into the card as well.

Motorcyclemojo

Customers on my mailing list should be receiving the Summer Mini catalogs in their mailboxes this week.  Email me to let me know that you received your mini catalog and also include a wish list of your 5 favorite new items.  You can also view the catalog online on May 1st and email me a wish list.  I will draw one name at random on May 5th, and the winner will receive a $25 credit towards the purchase of her wish list.

If you would like to receive a copy of the Summer Mini catalog from me, just email me with your information and I will mail one to you as soon as my additional copies arrive.

So what stamp set is the FART in?

Hpim0991 Two weeks ago, I had a stamp-a-stack that featured masculine cards.  The class was very well-attended, mostly because I think we all feel challenged to create a nice card for the men in our lives.  So, this week I'll be showing you the cards that we made at the class to inspire your Masculine creative side!

Hpim0988 My rules for masculine cards are simple.....KEEP IT SIMPLE!  Men are not impressed with ribbons, eyelets, flowers, and such.  Save the goodies for your girlfriends!

Hpim0986_2 You can click on each image to get a closer look.  So what stamp set is the FART in?  Happy Camper, of course!  It's on page 134 of the Idea Book & Catalog!
