Chocolate Cards

Chocolatecards

So, these cards aren't made of chocolate......sorry!  I loved all the greetings from the new Lovely, Amazing You photopolymer stamp set, but I was really looking forward to the "love you more than chocolate" saying.

Lovely, Amazing You Photopolymer Stamp Set

I started by using aquapainters to watercolor on watercolor paper with crumb cake, soft suede, and early espresso re-inkers.  I found that it was best to use a small amount of water when using shades of brown.  Too much water caused the colors to break down so that there was a lot of red, blue, and yellow mixed in.

Chocolateheart

The next card is based on this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  You can see it here.

Chocolatemojo

On both cards, I stamped the greeting with Versamark, then heat embossed with Early Espresso and White embossing powder.  If you'd like to purchase any of the items used to make these cards, a complete list of products is below.

I wanted to create a very soft, romantic card for Valentine's Day.  I started with Shimmery White card stock and die cut 3 rows of hearts with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  I added a small amount of color to the bottom 2 rows with an aquapainter and Pink Pirouette ink refills.

Next, I stamped "Love" from the So You stamp set in Pink Pirouette.  I layered a second piece of Shimmery White card stock behind the die cut piece, before placing it on a Pink Pirouette card base.

The focal point was created with strips of Silver Foil, a die-cut arrow, punched hearts, and some white baker's twine that was separated into individual strands.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Card Sketch 18

We have a fun card sketch for you over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration today.  Be sure to visit the blog to see what the other designers have created and don't forget to add your own card to our link up.

February-SSINKCS18

I've been playing around with watercolor effects and decided to try something new on this card.  I started by spritzing Shimmery White card stock with water.  Then, I put several drops of Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie re-inkers onto a small plate.  I picked up each color with an aquapainter and just touched the color to the edge of the paper, repeating several times.

Wchappyfront
The colors will run together and create a softer, muted look.  After the paper was dried, I stamped the "YOU MAKE ME" from the Crazy About You stamp set with Memento Black ink.  The "happy" was die-cut from Basic Black card stock with the Hello You thinlits die and the Big Shot.

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 10 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

I've been seeing some gorgeous watercolor cards on Pinterest lately.  At leadership, they talked about using Shimmery White card stock for watercoloring and I could not wait to get home to try some new techniques.Butterflycardside

For this card, I applied drops of reinker with an aquapainter to the center of the card.  The colors I used were Melon Mambo, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie.  Next, I spritzed the entire front of the card with water to get the colors to run.

Butterflycardfront

Once the card stock was dry, I die cut the butterfly with the Big Shot from the center of the watercolored area.  I die-cut a second butterfly from coaster board, layered the butterflies together and popped it up with dimensionals.

It's really fun mixing these colors and it was difficult to stop at just one.  You'll definitely want to check back later for more watercolor cards.

Floating Window Card

I am ALWAYS up for trying new things, so I was very excited about the Technique Tuesday post over at Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration.  The designers (including me) have created a variety of Floating Window cards.  If you haven't seen this technique before, we have a great video on the blog.

Floatingwindowmain

This looks like an ordinary card from the front, but several of the elements are "floating" in the middle of the card.  See for yourself...

Floatingwindowwords

I used the Wood You Be Mine Stamp Set and Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper for this card.  All of the supplies used are listed at the end of this post.  You can print the recipe and can view the items in my online store by clicking on them.

Be sure to FOLLOW me on social media.

On Facebook you can see a view of the inside of this card, as well as ALL the pictures I took at Leadership this past week.

And on Instagram, I shared my secret for cutting out my stamps quickly and easily.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge

We have a brand new Color Challenge for February on Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration and we would love to have you play along!  I've seen this color combo in a lot of stores--on clothing, accessories, and home decor.  It must be very popular right now.

February-SSINKCC18

This card just kind of took on a life of it's own, even though I was going for a clean and simple look.

Colorchallenge

I started with the background piece.  I used the dots stencil and the Coastal Cabana blendabilities to create ombre, watercolor-ish looking dots.  I really like the way it turned out and I'm sure I'll be experimenting with it some more.

Cccu

Then, I needed a great focal point.  I believe I've developed a new technique that I'm calling "you should've stopped while you were ahead" or YSSWYSA.....and you can say that any way you like.

  • Dusted off the Perfect Pennants stamp set and die
  • Tied the new Sale-a-Bration ribbon around the end
  • Punched a couple of hearts from vellum and card stock
  • Folded and fringe-cut a paper doily
  • Created a blob (?) of baker's twine
  • Added a button to cover the center of my blob

Eventually, I did have to stop.  It was beginning to get out of control.  However, I kind of like it.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to add your card to our Color Challenge link up.  We would love for you to play along!

Quick & Easy Cards

We are sharing Quick & Easy cards on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog today.  These are always my favorite!

Ppthanks2

This card looks amazingly simple from the front, but from the side view, you can really see the dimension.

Ppthanks

I began by stamping on Whisper White card stock, then die-cutting the "thanks" with the Hello You thinlits die.  I cut a second "thanks" from coaster board and layered the stamped thanks on top.  If you don't have coaster board, you can use several layers of whisper white card glued together.

I hope you'll try this technique at home.  It is a great WOW that is so simple to create.

Masculine Monday

Today on Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, the designers are featuring Masculine cards.  Be sure to check out all the great cards here.

Masculinecu

I'll be going to Orlando, Florida this week for the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference.  That means I'll be leaving my children in the very capable hands of my hubby for a few days.  I created this card to let him know how much I appreciate him. (he looks more like the lumberjack, though)

Masculine2

The layout was based on this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.  I had to flip the design to make it work, but that's one of the fun things to do with a sketch.

Monday Montage 36

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 10 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

I tried to create a somewhat-masculine Valentine's Day card using this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I started by stamping various shades of Early Espresso with a stamp from Snuggles and Smooches, then split the front panel.  I placed a small strip of Gold Foil Paper behind the split area.

Withlove1

The focal point was popped up with dimensionals and I added a swirl of linen thread behind it to add some texture.  All of the supplies for this card are listed at the end of this post.

Baby Cards

Today over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, the designers are sharing BABY cards.  It seems like I know A LOT of people that are pregnant right now, so this assignment came at the perfect time.

Babybanner

Since I am past the baby-making, diaper-changing, lack of sleep stage, I don't really have a need for any baby stamp sets.  Fortunately, I was able to use the Celebrate Today stamp set for this card.  I love that it can be used for more than birthdays, don't you?

Celebratetoday

I also used patterned paper from the Neutrals and Subtles Designer Series paper stacks.  These paper stacks are a hidden treasure in the catalog.  You get tons of colors and patterns within a single color family, so it is super-easy to coordinate with your card stock and ink.

A complete list of the supplies used is at the end of this post.
