Get Your Santa On

There are 2 Santa-themed stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog.  I prefer my Santas to be cute and a little on the chubby side, as opposed to dancing and showing a little too much body hair (see the Visions of Santa stamp set).  Obviously, I opted for the Get Your Santa On stamp set.

If you are ever in a design rut, it can be helpful to CASE---copy and share.  I am also a HUGE fan of using sketches.  For this card, I used elements of a card shown on page 30 of the Holiday catalog and combined it with this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Santa1

The result is a simple but attractive card.  I colored the Santa image with the Blendabilities markers---Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, and the Skin Tone Assortment.  I really love the skin tones and how easy it is to add just a little pink hue to his cheeks and nose.

Are you ready to start your Christmas cards?

Well, I've started to add classes to my Fall calendar.  If you are local to Kokomo, Indiana, you'll want to check them out here.

Monday Montage 27

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop! I'm just going to apologize now for not having a project from the Holiday catalog.  My daughter has requested a Memaid-theme for her 8th birthday and I'm in "under the sea" mode.  Yesterday, I spent 5 hours working on her invitations.....this isn't the invite.  I'll share it once the party is over.

I used this week's sketch from CAS(E) this sketch so that I wouldn't have to think too much.  There is a lot of white space, but I think it really makes the focal point pop even more.

Bythetide2

For the background, I used the Night of Navy Blendabilities markers to simply color from darkest(bottom) to lightest(top).  I then stamped the coral image in White Craft ink over the background.

A small component of Bella's birthday invitation is some glittery bubbles made with the new Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and Blendabilities.  This paper is AMAZING and the effects you can create are just WOW!

I didn't really want to cut out the fish and seahorse, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to do all the hard work.  I've got a tutorial on how to do this here.

Be sure to check out all 10 stops on the hop!  I know my friends have some amazing projects to share this week.
