Cherry Cobbler....YUM!

How could anyone not fall in love with a color named after a dessert?  The new Cherry Cobbler is one of my absolute favorites!!!  I've paired it with the Artistic Etchings stamp set to create 2 very different cards for you today.

The first card, I "copied" from the new catalog....the orientation was changed and I modified the "Amour" tag, but it's pretty close to the catalog version.

My 3-year old daughter loved this card so much, I caught her trying to take it to daycare with her today.  She recognized the Eiffel Tower....I'm amazed at what she has picked up from her favorite show, Little Einsteins.  I would not have know what the Eiffel Tower was when I was her age.

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etchings

Ink:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler

Paper:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP

Accessories:  Paper Piercer, White Gel Pen, Mat Pack, Modern Label Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Filigree Designer Brads

One of the great things about the new catalog is all the fabulous color combinations.  I'm sure I would have eventually paired Cherry Cobbler with a green, but check out how great it looks with Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  I can't wait to use this combination on many of my holiday cards.

Stamp Sets:  Artistic Etchings, Teeny Tiny Wishes

I hope you've enjoyed today's cards and I hope that I get a chance to stamp a little more this weekend.  Have a good one and happy stampin'!

New Stuff!

I am starting to feel like I have too many toys and not enough time!  I received a Cricut Expression and Gypsy for Mother's Day, the sewing machine for my birthday....and both already have a thin layer of dust on them.  So when it came time to order new items from the upcoming 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog, I decided to use a little restraint and only order a few things at first.

I had my order ship by Next-Day air so that I could also get my hands on that new catalog.  I can't tell you any specifics, but you are going to LOVE it!  My wish list keeps growing and growing.

Lucky for you, I can show you projects that I make with the new products I received.  This is your official first sneak peek at new catalog items....and I tried to cram as many as I could onto this one card!  LOL!

Amour2

I used the Mojo Monday 141 sketch for the layout.  Mojo141Sketch

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etchings

Ink:  Crumb Cake, Basic Black

Paper:  Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Newsprint Designer Series Paper

Accessories:  Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Rectangle Clearlits, Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sponges

I absolutely love this new stamp set called Artistic Etchings.  It is a set of 6 stamps and also features a key and Eiffel Tower images.  Here are a couple of close-ups:

Crowncu Clearlitcu

You can check out the Scallop Rectangle Clearlits die in the picture above.  What is great about this die, is that you can stamp your image first, then because you can see where the die will cut, you can cut out the image accurately.  The finished piece measures 1-1/2" x 2".

You can also see the great textured background that I created with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I sponged Crumb Cake ink over the raised images to make them stand out more.

By the way, Crumb Cake is the new name for Kraft.  We now have a stamp pad in Crumb Cake, too!  I love the way it looks on the sponged edges.

And finally, check out the Newsprint Designer Series Paper.  It gives a nice vintage look to any project and you only need to use a little bit.  I'm sure it will last me forever!

Hope you've enjoyed this little sneak peek.  Happy Stampin'!

6 Pages in 60 Minutes

6in60

  • Are you new to scrapbooking and need some creative ideas to get started?
  • Are you an intermediate-advanced scrapbooker and looking to learn new techniques?
  • Are you a demonstrator that needs scrapbooking samples to expand your business?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you are going to LOVE my newest class, 6 Pages in 60 Minutes.  I have designed 3, 2-page 12" x 12" layouts that are simple, fun, and perfect for your summer & vacation pictures.  Most of the layouts have room for 4-5 pictures with embellishments that add to the layout and will not distract from the subject matter.

So sorry!  This class is now sold out!

My Stamp Club members were my "test subjects" for this new class.  They finished the pages in about 1 hour, 10 minutes.  A few of the club members got creative with their kits and modified the layouts.  This one was created by Amy Harris.

And here are a few pics of everyone working on their layouts.  I think they all stood up so that they could work faster.  LOL!  I do that at home, too!

SUDSOL Blog Tour Stop #19

SUDSOL Blog Tour

Today, I am featuring samples using the Tropical Party stamp set, Island Oasis Designer Series Paper, and the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  These are actually my workshop projects for the month of June.  In a workshop setting, I will demonstrate at least one project and provide my guests with 1-2 hands-on project(s).  Lately, I've been focusing on just a few items from the mini catalogs for all of the projects.  This shows my customers that they don't need to own everything in the catalog to create beautiful items and also shows them how versatile our stamps, ink, and paper can be.

Sudsolcard

This card is a great make & take project.  It showcases the stamping with markers technique and only takes a few minutes to put together.  You could use this card for just about any summer occasion---birthdays, a party invitation, thank you, etc.

The Tropical Party stamp set really reminds me of all the fabulous trips that I have taken to Tropical Destinations with my husband.  I think this stamp set is perfect for scrapbooking, too!

Circledetail Flowerdetail

A great perk of being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is that you have the ability to earn wonderful incentive trips.  The first trip I earned was a cruise to the Mexican Riviera.  While we were in Puerto Vallarta, my husband and I found a tree named Ficus Benjamina.  Of course, I made him get his picture taken with it!

This scrapbook page is simple to demonstrate.  Stampin' Up offers many tools to create circles and this page utilizes punches and the circle cutter.  The circles form a scallop border around the photo mat, as well as a fabulous accent at the bottom of the page.  I also used the Flower Layers Originals die, but you could easily substitute the Island Floral die or any of our other Big Shot flower dies.

I have prepared a pdf file with measurements & basic instructions for both of these projects.  Feel free to use these projects in your upcoming workshops.

If it weren't for SUDSOL, I probably would not have been a demonstrator for the past 8 years.  I count myself very lucky to have found this group several months after I signed up as a demonstrator.  My upline lives in another state and SUDSOL has really filled this void by providing me with creative ideas, class outlines, motivation, and an enormous amount of information that has helped me grow my business over the years.

If you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you can receive a FREE 2-week trial membership to SUDSOL and check out everything it has to offer.  Just click the button below to get started.

While you are there, be sure to check out my SUDSOL gallery.  It even has samples dating back to 2004.  Yikes!!!

Motorcycle Mojo

As usual, I waited until the very last hours to post my card for Mojo Monday.  This card also features a new stamp set that will be available in the upcoming Summer Mini catalog.

Motocyclemojo2

I made this card for my downline meeting swap this weekend and everyone kept asking about the metal-look.  Well, it is heavy duty aluminum foil that I ran through the Big Shot with the Harlequin Texturz plate.  Cool, huh?

The motorcylce was stamped in Basic Black classic ink onto Whisper White card stock, then colored with Real Red & Sahara Sand markers.  I also added a thin glaze of Crystal Effects over the red portions of the motorcycle to give it some shine.

The other stamp set that I used is Extreme Elements.  I stamped black dots onto the Real Red strip and the splatter onto the Basic Gray background.  It reallly adds a masculine feel to the card.  The Extreme Elements stamp set will be part of a Stampin' Up special offer during National Scrapbooking month (May).  With the purchase of this stamp set, you can receive a set of Designer Brads for free.  You can see that I incorporated the Circle Designer Brad into the card as well.

Motorcyclemojo

Customers on my mailing list should be receiving the Summer Mini catalogs in their mailboxes this week.  Email me to let me know that you received your mini catalog and also include a wish list of your 5 favorite new items.  You can also view the catalog online on May 1st and email me a wish list.  I will draw one name at random on May 5th, and the winner will receive a $25 credit towards the purchase of her wish list.

If you would like to receive a copy of the Summer Mini catalog from me, just email me with your information and I will mail one to you as soon as my additional copies arrive.

Mojo 133--Ooops!

I'll just say it.....I'm not perfect and my creations are not always perfect.  There!  I said it.

But for those of you that don't believe me, check this out:

Mojo133cu

See that big, gaping hole?  It's not suppose to be there.  I "thought" I could fit 3 brads in a row onto this card, but alas, it was not to be.  Sometimes less is more.

Here is the finished card with a few Photoshop fixes to make it presentable for you to see.

The patterned paper is from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper pad.  The stamp set is called Flower Fancy and it is on sale this month for 20% off.  If you like floral stamps, this is a great one!!!

You may have noticed a new sign up box for my newsletter in the top right column.  I am in the process of switching to a new email service for my monthly newsletters.  If you would like to be added to my mailing list or if you would like to continue to receive my newsletters, please take a moment to fill out the form.

I am on my way to St. Louis to visit with family, spend some quality time with the kids and attend the Creating Keepsakes convention.  You probably won't hear much from me this week, but I'll be back next week with more samples to share.

Scrapbooking with Sweet Pea--Traditional & Digital Layouts

As promised, today I am sharing the scrapbook pages that coordinate with the cards from this post.

The layout may look familiar.....I used it on my St. Patrick's Day scrapbook layout last month.  You can use the same paper measurements to create this page.

Card&sb

The colors are the same as the card--Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, and Taken with Teal.  Below is a close-up of the journaling block.  I used one of the Hugs Sending Love notes, a few die-cut butterflies made with the Beautiful Wings embosslit, and another rub-on from the Chat Room Rub-Ons.

Sbcu

This next layout was created using My Digital Studio.  Did you know that you can add on a Sweet Pea download and it includes:

ALL of the Sweet Pea Designer Series papers

AND

ALL of the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt elements

AND

the Sweet Pea stamped images--the stamp set is not even available in the U.S. yet!

Sweetpeadigital

Wubbies

The page tells the story of my daughter and her wubby.  We used cloth diapers as burp cloths when she was a baby, and she has to have one with her at all times---even at 3-1/2 years old, we don't leave the house without a wubby.

One day after I had finished the laundry (folding & putting away at least a dozen or so wubbies), I found her in her room as you can see in the top right picture.  She was gathering wubbies to use as blankets for her baby dolls.  I think she was worried when I caught her that I might be mad (notice the uh-oh look in the bottom right pic).....but I just helped her gather them up so she could take them to the living room.  It's hard to tell, but there is a big smile behind the wubbies in the main picture.

MOJO 132---It's a 2 For 1!!!

Pinkcard

I have a little confession to make.....I am a hoarder of pretty papers & accessories.  When I first received the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Pad, I just oooohed and ahhhhhed over the papers, afraid to cut them.  Crazy, huh?

And the Sweet Pea stitched felt.....well, I've had them since December and I just opened the package this week.

But, probably one of the items that I really regret not using sooner is the Chat Room rub-ons.  There are 90 different sayings that are perfect for cards & scrapbook pages, plus you receive a sheet of white rub-ons & brown rub-ons--180 sayings in all!!!  Amazing!!  I'm trying to use as many as I can before the Occasions Mini sales period ends on April 30th.  You definitely are going to want to add the Chat Room rub-ons to your next order.

Here is a close-up of the greeting from the card above.....

Pinkcu

I think this is such a clever way to say "Thank You!" or Way to Go!".

So, after I cut into the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Pad, I just couldn't stop with one card.  Here is the second card I made using the MOJO Monday sketch:

Bluecard

Don't you just love this color combo? It is Pumpkin Pie, Taken With Teal, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.  The butterfly was cut with the Big Shot using the Beautiful Wings embosslit.  And check out the greeting...

Bluecardcu

Since both of these cards used a small amount of the Designer Series Paper, I also created some scrapbook pages with the scraps.  I'll be sharing those with you in my next post.

Remember, you only have until April 30th to order the following products:

  • 117161 Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack $24.95
  • 117266 Sweet Pea Stitched Felt $7.95
  • 118138 Beautiful Wings Embosslit $11.95
  • 117199 Chat Room Rub-Ons $10.95

You can shop in your jammies on my Stampin' Up! website.  Everyone placing an order this month on my website, will receive a copy of the Flower Power class tutorial (to be delivered on or after April 19th).  The tutorial includes step-by-step instructions for making 5 different cards using a variety of techniques with the Awash with Flowers stamp set.

Mojo Monday 129

Mojo129There is a first time for everything.....I actually completed a Mojo Monday sketch on MONDAY!!!  I've been itchin' to stamp for the past week and this sketch was just what I needed to get my Mojo flowing again.

I stamped the Bella Toile in Pretty in Pink onto Whisper White card stock for the background.  Then I used 2 different Designer Series Papers for the layers.  The dots are from the Tea Party collection and the Houndstooth pattern is from the Sweet Pea collection.  The white background was embossed with the perfect polka dots embossing folder and the big shot.

For the bunny, I used the Chocolate Bunny stamp with Chocolate Chip craft ink.  I then heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder and a heat tool.  The bunny was cut out and adhered to the front panel with dimensionals.

And finally, I used the Pretty in Pink satin ribbon to tie the project together.

This card would definitely be perfect for Easter, but you could easily use it for a new baby or a baby shower card.

Eggsciting, isn't it?

Bunnycard

I hope you are enjoying the card samples using the Eggcellent Eggs kit.  I've had a lot of fun designing them!

This card features a Bashful Blue card base, layered with Pretty in Pink and Whisper White cardstock.  The dotted pink strip and bashful blue strip near the bottom of the card are die-cut egg holders, trimmed to fit the card.  I added a strip of adhesive-backed rhinestones between the 2 strips to hide the seam.

Bunnybottomcu

I added some of the white rub-ons to the Pretty in Pink strip at the top of the card.  There are 2 sheets of these rub-ons in every kit!  So pretty!

I'll be away from my computer for a few days while my parents are visiting with us.  I've got some plans for a little March Madness, and you'll definitely want to celebrate my 40th birthday with me on the 19th!  I'm getting a special gift this year and I'll be giving away gifts throughout the month.......check back on Monday, March 1st for more details!
