Masculine Monday

  Masculine z-fold card

Today on Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration, the designers are sharing masculine cards for all occasions.  You can check them out here.  I created this card for an Occasions Catalog card swap and it features the Happy Celebrations stamp set and Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Happy Celebrations Front

To create the base of this card, I scored a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Crumb Cake card stock at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  When you fold back and forth along the score lines, you'll create the "z-fold".  I placed a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock on the inside of the card and a 2-1/2" x 4" piece of Night of Navy card stock on the front panel.  The focal point is a 3-1/4" x 4" piece of Early Espresso card stock with a piece of 3" x 3-3/4" Whisper White card stock layered onto it.

Masculine Happy BirthdayThis stamp set and embossing folder duo is a little different from anything Stampin' UP! has carried in the past.  The folder actually debosses the card stock, creating a letterpress-look.  The stamps simply accentuate the debossed area.

I demonstrated this combination on another card at a recent downline meeting which is what you'll see in the video below.  Warning.....this video is very raw = 1 take, other people were present, and my dog needed to get a few words in, too.

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.  Don't forget that you'll get a FREE Sale-a-Bration item with every $50 purchase through March 31st.

Thanks for stopping by!

TGIFC92 - Jeanna B Designer Spotlight

The new year has brought me some exciting opportunities and I'm happy to announce one of those today.  I have just joined the designers at TGIF Challenges!  There is a serious amount of creative talent among this group and the weekly challenges are so much fun!  I hope that you'll take the time to visit the blog and play along with us each week.

For the last challenge of this month, we are getting our inspiration from one of our own.....the AMAZING Jeanna Bohanon.  I've known Jeanna for about 5 years and she is simply one of the sweetest people ever.  You just can't help but love her!  I know you'll also love her design style.  Her projects always stand out from the crowd, so it was hard for me to pick just one card to inspire me.

Lovebyjeanna

After hours of pouring over Jeanna's blog, I decided to use the card above as my inspiration photo.  I loved the colors and the little touches that make it pop.

Carousel BirthdayThe patterned paper from the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper stack mirrors Jeanna's die-cut Sunburst background.  I stamped the images and sentiment in Versamark ink, then heat embossed each with gold, clear, and white emboss powder to give them a little more dimension.

Carousel Birthday Card

I added a little ribbon from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment kit for a pop of color and a few White perfect accents to mimic her use of sequins.  The stitching just wasn't going to happen this week.  My sewing machine hasn't seen the light of day for awhile, but Jeanna might push me to get it out.

Carousel Birthday Close Up

As always, you'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

I'm getting super close to a new milestone on my Facebook page.  If you haven't done so already, be sure to LIKE my page.  I'm sure there will be another giveaway soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Introducing Melissa Stout

Hi! My name is Melissa Stout and I am a returning member of the Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration design team.  I had to take a little hiatus during the Fall to complete a few other design projects, but I am now back for at least the next six months.  This is a wonderful group and I am thrilled to be working with them again!

I live in Kokomo, Indiana with my husband, daughter, and our 2 furbabies.  Just so you know.....Kokomo is nothing like the old Beach Boys song.  It's approximately 1 hour north of Indianapolis and we're surrounded by corn fields.  No beaches and I don't drink margaritas all the time.

Ben and Melissa

My husband and I met in chiropractic school, married, and opened up a practice together.  Somehow, we manage to combine work and family life successfully.  We'll be celebrating 15 years of marriage later this year.

Chandler and Me
My oldest is currently serving in the US Navy.  I'm still adjusting to him being gone and learning how to be a military mom.  We've been very fortunate to see him frequently this past year, but it looks like there will be multiple deployments in our future.

20170120_211103000_iOS

My youngest is my mini-me and tends to be my shadow.  She's at that great age where she still wants to be with her mom and mom is the best.  I'll take it!  I know this time will pass and soon I'll be persona non grata in her life.

Gizmo and Jasmine

And then there's these two.....Gizmo and Jasmine, our rescue dogs.  Jasmine is a 13 year-old Border Collie mix and if you've watched any of my videos online, you've probably heard her "talking" as well.  She always thinks I'm talking to her and must respond.  LOL  Gizmo is some sort of crazy-haired, moody mutt.  She's a young one and is always up for snuggles.

So, as you can see, my family is very important to me and most of them (looking at you, Jasmine) are very supportive of my stamping business.  I've been a Stampin' UP! demonstrator for 15 years and I truly love it!  My style is very clean & simple.  I love using sketches and color challenges for inspiration and I currently belong to several design teams.

Up until recently, I had been holding local card-making classes.  I have decided to take a step back from that for awhile to focus on building my online business and spend more time with my family and friends.

Below are a few samples that I created for the ONStage event in Madison, Wisconsin this past November.

Bokeh Celebration

  Bokeh Celebration

Today on Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration, the designers are featuring the Bokeh technique.  There are several variations of this technique and I went for a very simple version using stamps from the Happy Celebrations stamp set.  Bokeh is meant to look light, airy, and dreamy.

Celebrate Your Day

I began by stamping the 2 sizes of circle stamps in Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette ink along the left side of the card and greeting panel.  I made sure to overlap the circles, as well as stamp off to create lighter shades of pink.  This gives the Bokeh depth.

Celebrate Close UP

I ran the Celebrations Textured Impressions Embossing Folder through the Big Shot.  This creates a debossed greeting.  Next, I took a blender pen and versamark ink refill to fill in the greeting.  Then I sprinkled Silver Embossing Powder over the greeting and heat it with a heat tool until melted.  I stamped "your day" in Basic Black Archival ink below the embossed greeting.  As a final touch, I added a few enamel shapes to the front of the card and popped up the greeting panel with dimensionals.

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Monday Montage 86

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all the stops....you don't want to miss anything!

Today I'm sharing a few more display samples from the Stampin' UP ONStage event that was held in Madison, Wisconsin this past November.  All of these cards feature the Vertical Garden stamp set.  This stamp set really stretched my creativity.  While I'll often send cards to say "hello", I rarely have an occasion to send one that says "welcome".  It seemed very odd to me, until I saw the Vertical Garden Project Kit that this set was designed to coordinate with to create a home decor piece.  However, if you have purchased or plan to purchase the project kit, you'll now have a variety of ideas for continued use of the stamp set.

Emerald Envy Welcome

This card features simple stamping-off with the Emerald Envy Ombre stamp pad.  To add dimension, I embossed the background with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.  A few scattered Emerald Envy Enamel Shapes also accent the card.

Welcome Baby

Gorgeous Grunge was another stamp set that originally challenged me.  However, I've grown to love it and use it a lot!  Here I used the splatters to create the rainbow effect behind the greeting.  I felt like this could be a perfect gender-neutral baby card and used the Labeler Alphabet to add the word, baby.

Simple Succulent Welcome

This card ended up being one of my favorites of the bunch due to its very simple color palette of Whisper White, Cucumber Crush, and Basic Black.  The Vertical Garden stamp set pairs nicely with the Oh So Succulent stamp set which I used to create the background pattern.  To embellish this card yet keep it simple, I added a few White Perfect Accents.

To see a complete list of supplies for each card, simply click on the images.

So.....when would YOU send a "welcome" card?  Leave me a comment.  (I'm still looking for ideas--LOL!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Vertical Garden Project Kit

Have you seen the Vertical Garden Project Kit in the Occasions Catalog?  Jaw-dropping, isn't it?  Obviously, succulents are very hot in home decor and gardening right now.  With this kit you can create a colorful block of flowers for your door, wall, or table.  You'll need a few additional supplies to complete the project, including the Vertical Garden stamp set shown below.

Vertical Garden Stamp Set

After you complete your project kit, you don't have to feel "stuck" with the stamp set.  It can be used for so many different things!  I received this set to create display samples for the On Stage event back in November, so I had the opportunity to play with it before I even knew there was a succulent-making kit.  Today, I'm sharing 4 of my samples and you can look forward to seeing the rest over the next week.

Birthday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration Blog Hop!  Our theme this month is birthdays.  We've got inspiration from 16 bloggers ready to share their best ideas for creative birthday cards.  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number 12 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Jen Pitta at By the Shore Stamping . If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

This my first posting as a returning design team member.  I needed to take a few months off in the Fall to get caught up on some other design projects.  Now, I'm ready to re-introduce myself to you with 3 different cards that reflect my style.  If you like what you see, be sure to follow me on social media.  You'll find all the buttons in the right column.

everyday hero

This card featuring the Everyday Hero stamp set is the third in a series that I have featured this week.  This stamp set is perfect for kids or kids-at-heart.  It is definitely a new favorite of mine.

Party Animal Suite

One of the things that I dearly missed at SSINK was the Card Sketches.  I was a little late to the party this week with my card, but it features a layout from our blog.  We'd love to have you play along with us.  There is still time to upload your creations.

Carousel Birthday

When you need a very quick birthday card, this is a simple design that's easy to put together.  I used the Carousel Birthday set and splattered the image with stamps from Gorgeous Grunge.  Add a little designer series paper and you're all set!

Which card is your favorite?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

Thanks for stopping by!  You are now ready to move on to the next stop, which is my good friend, Breelin.  I'm sure she has some wonderful goodies to share!

Super Hero

Everyday Hero

You've got to love a card with a loud pop of color!  Today, I've paired the Everyday Hero stamp set with this week's sketch from Mojo Monday to create a colorful comic book-style card.

Mpjp479

I started by die-cutting my background pieces and focal point layers with the Big Shot.  I stamped the dotted background onto the Pacific Point circle, the Real Red strip, and the Crushed Curry sunburst in their coordinating colors.  I stamped the cityscape image in Basic Black ink onto the Smoky Slate card stock at the bottom of the card.

Super Hero

The hero image was stamped in Basic Black Archival ink onto Whisper White card stock, then colored with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  The sentiments were stamped in various colors ~ this stamp set has a lot of sentiments that you can easily mix and match.

Hero Close-Up

You'll find complete list of supplies at the end of this post.  And don't forget.....it's Sale-a-Bration time.  For every $50 you spend (before tax & shipping), you can select a FREE Sale-a-bration item.  There is no limit!

You're Incredible

  everydayhero

I am really digging this new comic book-style stamp set called Everyday Hero.  I'll be sharing several samples with you this week.  This first one uses this week's sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.

CTS_203

I started by stamping the cityscape image in Basic Black ink onto Smoky Slate card stock.  I fussy cut around the top edge and added some highlights to the windows with a Whisper White watercolor pencil.  The sentiment and speech balloon were stamped in Basic Black and Real Red ink directly onto the Whisper White card front.

wow

The superhero is composed of 3 different stamps layered to create the flying image.  I colored first with the watercolor pencils, then blended with a blender pen.  The image was fussy cut and popped up on the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
