So do you ever bite off more than you can chew?  I'm sitting in my studio, wondering where I can find a few extra hours this week or if there would be any way to clone myself.  Even though I am slightly overwhelmed with all of the things I need to get done, I can't help but be grateful for all the good things that have come my way.  I'll be giving this special card to someone that has definitely been a blessing in my life this year.  It features the Paisleys & Posies stamp set and an abundance of Fall colors.

For the layout, I used a sketch from Mojo Monday.  The sketch featured lots of layers, so I knew it would be perfect to pair the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Layering Circles & Squares Framelits Dies.  I was still able to maintain a lot of white space to keep the card clean & simple.

I stamped the leaf accents in Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon, and Soft Suede.  Immediately after stamping, I used a tiny bit of ink with the Clear Wink of Stella brush to add some shimmer and additional color to the leaves.  The Petals & Paisleys bundle features so many stamp and die combinations.  The possibilities are endless!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

October Control Freaks Blog Hop ~ Gratitude

Freakwelcome2013

Welcome to the Control Freaks monthly blog tour! This month's theme is Gratitude.  If you started at the beginning of the tour, you just visited the very talented, Kelly Acheson. She always has amazing ideas and I find her so inspiring!

Me & My "Baby"

I'm on vacation in Florida this week and boy, am I grateful for that!  A much-needed visit with my Navy son, sunshine, and some R & R does a mommy good.

basket close up

I've been so busy cranking out the Christmas cards, so I needed a break from that, too.  I brought a minimal amount of supplies with me to create a few cards at my leisure.  My "stamping pack" included a package of Thick Whisper White card stock, the Basket of Wishes stamp set, paper trimmer, a few ink pads and markers, an aquapainter, and some adhesives.  This is considerably less than my stash at home, but I wanted to limit myself to supplies that a beginning stamper might have.

FMS Final 259-001

I used this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout.  Without any patterned paper, I had to watercolor strips of paper and splatter ink onto my background to add depth and dimension.  I didn't bring an orange ink with me, so I had to mix Real Red, Crushed Curry, and Cajun Craze to create the various shades of orange on the pumpkins and squash.

basket of thanks

The basket bows out a bit to make it look rounded and full.  I added a double stack of dimensionals to the middle of the stamped image, then placed Tombow adhesive along the outer edges to secure the basket.  You can see this a bit better in the image below. (I'm also sharing a little bit of Florida from my balcony with you)

TrickorTreatcloseup

This week, I am enjoying a much-needed vacation & visit with my Navy son in Florida. After another crazy week, I am definitely ready for some R & R!

However, one hour before I left, I realized that I didn't have a project created for the Monday Montage blog hop.  YIKES!

I pulled up this week's sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and got to work, whipping up a quick card.

  CTS_194

Fortunately, I already had a few of the elements laying on my desk and was able to work my design around those things~a mummy stamped & punched with the Cookie Cutter Halloween set, a few Halloween Night Enamel Dots, a strip or Halloween Night Designer Series Paper, and a bit of Black Metallic Thread.

Grunge-y Spooky Fun

I stamped the gauze-y stamp in Smoky Slate ink from the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set and the splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Pumpkin Pie ink.  I love both of these sets so much!  They add just the right amount of texture to all of my clean & simple cards.

The "trick or treat" sentiment is from the Spooky Fun stamp set.

Ultimate Pink Blog Hop

pink blog hop

Welcome to the first ever Ultimate Pink Blog Hop – a collection of ideas from Stampin’ UP! demonstrators all over the globe featuring shades of pink in honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Having lost several close friends within the last month to various forms of cancer, I could not turn down the opportunity to participate in this hop.  However, I've had a bit of a creative block recently so I was a bit stumped with what to create.  So here is my TIP:  if all else fails, turn to the Stampin' UP! catalog and CASE (copy & share everything).

I loved the samples on page 97 featuring the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies.  I changed up the colors and a few other things to create these 3 cards that would be perfect to send to anyone that needs encouragement.

sending love

This card base measures 3-1/2" x 5", so it's a nice size to tuck in with a gift.  On all of the cards, I used a combination of Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and Flirty Flamingo.  These colors really complement one another.

sendinglovehope

In the catalog, the sample shown is a tag.  I simply changed it to a card size.  I think this sentiment would be perfect for many situations, don't you?

takeheart

I added just a bit of Daffodil Delight ink with a sponge dauber to the die-cut "sunshine" to give it some depth.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog!  If you'd like to continue the blog hop, you can click any of the links below for even more pink inspiration.  You'll find a complete list of supplies for all my projects at the very end of this post.

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all the stops....you don't want to miss anything!

So......I haven't stamped anything for 2 whole weeks!  I'm starting to have a bit of rubber withdrawal.  Fortunately, I'll be able to spend a good part of Monday in my craft room getting caught up on all my crafty projects.  Today's card is a simple, die-cut only card but I think you'll like it!

hellocloseup

You might want to pull out your sunglasses because this card features a bit of a psychedelic color combination ~ Emerald Envy, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Basic Black.  These are the same colors that appear in the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper.  I often look to the DSP color combos to try out new combinations.

hellocard

I began by placing a 2" strip of the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper along the left side of the card front.  I popped up a layer of Whisper White card stock measuring 3-1/2" x 5", slightly overlapping the DSP.  I cut several square outlines of card stock with the Layering Squares Framelits~there are so many possibilities with this set of dies!  After inlaying them onto a piece of Whisper White card stock, I die cut the "hello" from the center, then added the Basic Black "hello" inside.  A few Crushed Curry Enamel shapes complete the card.

retrohello

It has a bit of a retro flair to it, doesn't it?
