Happy Fall Ya'll

Freakwelcome2013

Welcome to the Control Freaks monthly blog tour! This month's theme is Happy Fall, Ya'll.  Fall is my absolute favorite time of year.  As I was driving around today, I noticed that a few of the leaves are already starting to turn.  It won't be long until the Fall colors are everywhere!  If you started at the beginning of the tour, you just visited the very talented, LeeAnn Greff. She always has amazing ideas and I find her so inspiring!

Fall Happy Birthday Close Up

Last week, I was talking with one of my patients that works in the mental health field.  She told me that the month of September is really stressful for many people, and that often those with psychiatric problems get worse this time of year.  I don't think I'm crazy or anything (yet), but this month has really thrown some curve balls in my direction.  So today, I'm sharing a few low stress, simple cards for (F)all occasions.....just in case you've had a crazy month, too!

Fall Birthday

For the base of each card, I used Very Vanilla card stock then added some Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The stamping is very minimal~just a sentiment stamp or a die-cut for the greeting.  The Stylized Birthday stamp is my new "go-to" for birthday cards.  Boy, do I have a bunch for this month: both of my kids, several of my besties, my mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law, and probably some others that I've neglected.  Fortunately, I can whip up a bunch of these in no time.

Copper Paisley Thanks

This photo is a little wonky, but it was the only way I could prevent the glare from the shiny Copper Foil Paper and the beautifully Copper-embossed Navy Designer Paper.  To keep the card simple, I die-cut the "Thanks" from the Copper Dot paper for the sentiment.  "Thanks" was also die-cut out of the navy paper, then both sides were popped up with dimensionals.

Razzleberry Sympathy

This card is perfect as a sympathy or get well card.  Bad stuff happens and it's nice to be prepared.  This sentiment is from the Suite Seasons stamp set in the Holiday catalog and it includes greetings for all your (F)all occasions and beyond.

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the web!  I hope you've enjoyed my sanity-saving simple cards.  Don't forget to visit Kelly Acheson to continue on the blog tour.

It's been a challenging week.  Two very dear patients and my husband's best friend all passed away within 24 hours of each other.  I haven't felt much like stamping this weekend, but I knew I needed to create a few sympathy cards for the families.  Since I didn't want this to be a sad post with only my sympathy card sample, I took the sketch along with the same stamp sets and made 2 more samples.

sympathytrees

The stamp sets that I used are Totally Trees from the Holiday Catalog and Better Together from the Annual Catalog.  The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches.  For each card, I simply changed the colors, designer series paper, and shape of the focal image.

Treefms254

By pairing an image-only stamp set with a fabulous set of greetings, you can create a wide variety of cards. The nice thing about the Better Together stamp set is that there are sentiments for the outside and the inside of your card.

Bright Christmas

Twinkle Trees Close Up

Today I'm sharing a card that I made for a Holiday Catalog card swap last month.  It's very simple, but one of my favorites that I've created with new goodies so far.

Joy to the World

I started by stamping the sentiment from the Tin of Tags stamp set in the center of my Whisper White card layer.  Next, I used the Twinkle Trees stamp set to stamp multiple Bold Brights circles across the bottom.  The deer was die cut with the Santa's Sleigh thinlits dies from Gold Foil Paper, and a wad of black metallic thread was layered behind to give it dimension.

Busy Bee

What a crazy week! I'm sorry that I haven't posted, but I've been unbelievably busy.  Both of my kids have birthdays within the same week.  Chandler is away with the Navy so he wasn't much trouble.  I just had to make sure that his gifts arrived safely. Bella, on the other hand, wanted a special birthday party.  In addition to party planning, I also had my parents visit for the weekend and a very packed schedule with patients at the office.

I had planned to bake cupcakes for Bella's party on Saturday morning.  However, we woke up to another power outage, so I had to go with Plan B.  I made a quick trip to the grocery store and found as many chocolate and vanilla cupcakes as I could, so that I could make this Horse-shaped cake that Bella has seen on Pinterest.  It's by no means perfect, but it was the best that I could do under the circumstances.  Fortunately, the electricity came back on as we were leaving for her party.

Bella's party was held at Crown Haven Center.  All the girls had a chance to ride the pony and Bella said she LOVED it!  I also made the party favors for the party, which was inspired by another Pinterest find.  These were fairly easy to make and a big hit with the guests.

I've also been working on a few smaller projects for my office manager's upcoming wedding (this weekend!).  All of these small projects, coupled with some design deadlines, and I've gotten very behind on Thank You cards for my online customers. I needed a simple card that I could mass produce and this is what I came up with.

paisleythankyou
The sentiment is from a retired set and the paisleys are from the new Paisleys & Posies stamp set.  I created a frame with the Layering Squares Framelits and another piece of Very Vanilla card stock to use as a mask.  After stamping the sentiment in the middle of the card, I used the mask and paisley stamps to stamp around the sentiment.  I used Dapper Denim, Rich Razzleberry, and Delightful Dijon to create an early Fall color scheme.  A Dapper Denim enamel heart embellishes the "O".

As you can see, I made quite a few.  If you would like to receive one, simply place an order through my online store this month.  If you've ordered online from me within the last month, keep an eye on your mailbox.

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

More Twinkle Trees

It may be Labor Day, but I've got work to do!  Fun work!

I have a swap due on Friday that has to go in the mail tomorrow.  I was going to use one of my Cookie Cutter cards, but there were already too many people signed up for those stamp sets.  So, I decided to pull out another one of my new favorites....Twinkle Trees!  I think I've used this stamp set on all my demonstrator swaps.

FMS Final 252-001

I did a very loose interpretation of this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I went with the circles, and then kept going and going!

bokehmerrychristmas

I started by stamping the Tree outline in Basic Black Archival Ink onto Whisper White card stock.  Starting with the largest bokeh circle, I stamped off Mint Macaron and filled in much of the tree area.  With the middle circle, I stamped full-strength Mint Macaron ink.  The small circle and the "Christmas" were stamped in Emerald Envy ink.  I added a Crushed Curry star to the top of the tree and the "merry" was die cut from Real Red card stock.

bokehchristmas

I embellished the card with some Brights Enamel Dots.  These are on SPECIAL this week, so you might want to stock up on them.  They add such a fun touch to any card!

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.  I've also updated all of my Holiday Sneak peeks with supply lists, so be sure to revisit some of my August posts.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Monday Montage 77

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all the stops....you don't want to miss anything!

This month, I'll be hosting a Cookie Cutter Stamp-a-Stack featuring the Cookie Cutter Christmas & Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp sets.  In my last post, I shared the Scarecrow card that we will be making in class.  Today, I'm sharing a simply adorable teddy bear Christmas card that will also be included.

BearyChristmas

I based the layout on this week's Mojo Monday sketch, so the sizing is a bit different.  The Very Vanilla card stock base of the card measures 3-1/2" x 11", scored at 5-1/2".  It still fits perfectly in our medium envelopes and allows for a little extra dimension.

Mojo463

I began by stamping the teddy bear image in Crumb Cake ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.  You'll also have to stamp the ears, but because it is a photopolymer stamp set, you can line it up perfectly.  The eyes, nose, and mouth were stamped in Basic Black ink.  I stamped the bowtie in Real Red ink onto Real Red card stock, then used the Cookie Cutter Builder punch to cut it out.  The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green ink directly below the bear, and Real Red 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon was tied around the layered panel before adhering it to the card with dimensionals.

BearyMerryChristmas

This card has a lot of texture, just like your favorite teddy bear.  My new favorite way to add texture is with the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (wow! that's a mouthful!).  This folder is extra thick and creates a very deep impression.  I know you'll love it!  The patterned paper is from the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack.
