Fall is Coming!

scarecrowcloseup

If you are desperately trying to narrow down your wish list from the Holiday catalog, I'm going to strongly suggest you get both Cookie Cutter stamp sets and the coordinating punch.  Between both sets, you've got all the Fall & Holiday occasions covered!  Today, I'm sharing a card that we will be making in my Cookie Cutter class next month.  I'll be sending out sign-up information later this week, so make sure you sign up for my email newsletters if you want to find out more.

FMS Final 251-001

I used this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout.

scarecrowfms251

The Scarecrow image is from the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set and the sentiment is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set.  I colored the little guy with a blender pen and various ink refills.

I embossed the Very Vanilla card stock layer with the new Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.  I think this folder will be a favorite among my stampers!  The background paper is from the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper stack.  Both of these items will be available for purchase on September 1st.

Posting may be a little slower this week, as I'm still trying to catch up after the chaos of last week.  I'll definitely have one more sneak peek at the Cookie Cutter Stamp-a-Stack sometime within the next couple of days.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Simple Santa Shaker

  santashakercloseup

Today on Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration, the designers are featuring a fun batch of shaker cards.  You'll definitely want to check out their creations HERE.  I am sharing a card that we made at a recent demonstrator shoebox swap that uses several new products from the upcoming Holiday catalog.

santashaker

For the window part of the shaker, I used the new Detailed Santa Thinlits die.  There is a very cute stamp set that coordinates with the die called Greetings from Santa.  To keep this card super simple, I stamped all the sentiments in Real Red ink and used Thick Whisper White card stock to make this card very sturdy. The Candy Cane Lane Bakers Twine is also new.  Doesn't it remind you of a candy cane?  It's got a bit of metallic shimmer to it.

santashaker2

If you are going to make a shaker card, you'll need to have Window Sheets and Foam Adhesive strips, as well as something to "shake".  I filled my shaker with mica flakes...yet, another new product from the Holiday catalog!

You'll be able to order from the Holiday catalog beginning September 1st.  Luckily, that is right around the corner.

Personal Update:  As many of you know, I live in Kokomo, Indiana and our town was hit very hard on Wednesday with multiple tornadoes.  Amazingly, there were no fatalities, only a few minor injuries.  The damage is widespread, though.

We were fortunate to not have any damage to our home or business.  The power has been out at our home since the storms, but was finally restored this morning.  We had to close our office yesterday, but have reopened today.  I consider us to be very blessed.  Many of our friends are dealing with unimaginable hardships.

Please keep the town in your thoughts.

STEP FIVE:  Make sure all scored lines fold easily and assemble stand.

STEP SIX: Decorated numbered boxes

Assemble 2 White Gift Boxes.  I cut patterned paper into 2-3/4" squares and adhered the paper to all six sides.  Then use the Big Shot and Large Numbers Framelits to cut numbers.  It doesn't really matter which side you put them on, but you do need to put specific numbers on each box.  Use the guide below.

STEP SEVEN:  Decorate the Stand

I cut patterned paper to 3/4" x 6-1-/2" and 4-1/4" x 6-1/4" to embellish the stand.  You can add stamps and die-cuts as well.

Control Freaks August Tour: Holiday Catalog

Freakwelcome2013

Welcome to the Control Freaks monthly blog tour! This month's theme is Holiday catalog products.  Oh, my!  There is so much goodness in this new catalog, that I can't wait to see what my fellow freaks have created!  If you started at the beginning of the tour, you just visited the very talented, Amy Koenders. She always has amazing ideas and I find her so inspiring!

Candycanelaneadvent

My favorite stamp set from the Holiday catalog is Cookie Cutter Christmas.  I just can't get enough of that little gingerbread man!  Even better, this set has a a coordinating punch so no fussy cutting is necessary.  I paired the stamp set with the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper to create this Christmas Advent calendar.  I've seen many wooden versions of this type of calendar and could not wait to try and make one with Stampin' UP! products exclusively.

candycanelaneadvent2

The numbered cubes were made with White Gift boxes that will be available in the Holiday catalog on September 1st.  These measure 3" x 3" x 3" and are food safe.  Can't you just imagine filling them with cookies for a fun gift?  I cut 2-3/4" squares of the Designer Series Paper and adhered them to each side of the boxes.  The numbers were die cut with the Big Shot and Large Numbers framelits from Early Espresso card stock.

CandyCaneadventcalendar

To embellish the stand, I stamped "days til Christmas" with the Labeler alphabet onto Whisper White cardstock with Early Espresso ink.  The gingerbread man was stamped in Crumb Cake ink onto Whisper White card stock and embellished with Real Red Enamel Shapes.

I'll be sharing another version of this calendar, as well as the template in a future blog post.  You won't believe how easy these are to make!

Back To School

placesyoullgo

The designers at Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration are featuring Back to School cards on our blogs today.  You can check out the other designers' amazing creations HERE

My daughter has been in school for 2+ weeks already.  If you missed my Back-to-School scrapbook layout, you can view it HERE.  Since, I've been sharing Holiday catalog sneak peeks, I was able to squeeze one into today's project.

holidaybacktoschool

The patterned paper on today's card is from a new 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper stack called Warmth and Cheer.  The plaid patterns and stars remind me of school starting, so I paired the paper with the Places You'll go stamp set.

placesyoullgo

To give the globe an "earthy" feel, I stamped the lines with Wild Wasabi (stamped off), then the splatter from Gorgeous Grunge in Pool Party (stamped off).  The sentiment and heart are also from the Places You'll Go stamp set.

It's going to be a busy weekend on the blog.....the Control Freaks are hopping tonight and I'll be hopping again with the Monday Montage girls on Sunday night.  Stay tuned for even more fabulous holiday projects!

Thanks for stopping by!

Spreading Christmas Cheer

Christmascheercloseup

I made a commitment this year: for every stamp set that I purchase, I will create and share at least 3 samples with it.  Over my time with Stampin' UP!, I've bought many stamp sets that have never seen any ink.  I think it's important to have sets that are very versatile in your craft collection, and I think Twinkle Trees and Tin of Tags fits the bill.  If you haven't seen my other cards, scroll back over the last few posts.

twinkletreestinoftags

This card is unbelievably simple.  I just stamped various shades of Old Olive ink with the circle stamps from Twinkle Trees across the top of the Whisper White card layer.  A few small circles of Real Red, the sentiment from Tin of Tags stamped in Basic Black Archival ink, and a quick wash of Clear Wink of Stella completes the card.

twinkletreesbokeh

On Instagram, I'm sharing an alternate version and a slightly stepped up version of this card.  You'll find the link to follow me in the right column.

I'm gearing up for a busy weekend of blog posts, including 2 blog tours.  You'll definitely see even more ideas with the Holiday catalog sets.  Do you have a favorite yet?  You'll be able to order Holiday products beginning September 1st.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

On a Roll

bokehreindeershaker2closeup

I've been on a bit of a roll with the Twinkle Trees stamp set, so I thought I'd show you one more that is more of the traditional Bokeh technique.  It's also a fun shaker card!

anotherbokehreindeershaker

I started by sponging Pool Party, Blushing Bride, and So Saffron inks onto Whisper White card stock.  Next, I stamped various circles from the Twinkle Trees stamp set with Whisper White craft ink over the sponged areas.  It takes a little time for it to dry, so you can use the heat tool to speed the drying process.  I used this Bokeh panel as the background for my shaker card.  The shaker is filled with the Fancy Frost sequins.....I love these shiny gems!

reindeershaker

The outer frame of the shaker was embellished with die cuts from Santa's Sleigh thinlits and Silver 3/8" Glitter Ribbon.

I've got one more card to share with the Twinkle Trees stamp set tomorrow, so be sure to visit again soon!

Santa's Sleigh Meets Twinkle Trees

SantasSleighcloseup

Today's card has so much sweet, glittery goodness that I could hardly wait to share it with you!  This card has glimmer card stock, glitter ribbon, sequins, and another Bokeh background created with the Twinkle Trees stamp set.  The layout is from this week's Mojo Monday sketch

Mojo461

I started by die-cutting the large circle from the top layer of Very Vanilla card stock with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits Dies.  Next, I placed the open circle over the card base and began stamping the various circles from Twinkle Trees in Soft Sky, Sweet Sugarplum, and Soft Suede inks across both layers of card stock.  I found that twisting the stamp while it is on the paper created the blurry look that I wanted.  A wash of Clear Wink of Stella blurred the ink even more and gave the paper a beautiful shimmer. The greeting is from the Santa's Sleigh stamp set and was stamped in Soft Suede ink below the open circle.

santassleighshaker

I then created the shaker component and added the Fancy Frost sequins.  After adhering the shaker to the card base, I tied Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" Glitter Ribbon around the card.  And finally, I die cut a reindeer from the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits dies and adhered it to the front of the card with dimensionals.

I hope you are enjoying the sneak peeks into the Holiday catalog which will be available on September 1st.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog to receive updates by email.
