Painter's Palette Work of Art

workofartcloseup

Today on Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, we are featuring Single Layer Cards.  I always find these to be a bit of a challenge.  It seems like stampers are trained to use lots of layers.  However, with a great sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and a fabulous, new stamp set called Painter's Palette, I think I pulled it off.

You may be wondering about the colors of my "swooshes".  Well, I tried stamping each swoosh at full strength and it was too dark for the greeting to show.  So on my second attempt (yes it happens to me, too), I stamped off each color on a scrap piece of paper before stamping onto the card.   All of the colors are IN COLORS:  Watermelon Wonder, Delightful Dijon, Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, and Sweet Sugarplum.

After I stamped the greeting over the top of the swooshes, it looked a little off-center.  I added the black splatter off to the side to balance the card.  I really love the way it turned out and I'm pretty certain I could whip up a batch of these very quickly.

You'll find a complete list of supplies and links to purchase at the end of this post.

Don't forget to Pin the cards you love!

Little Stinker

littlestinkercloseup

Sometimes, it's hard to handle the cuteness of some stamps! Take Foxy Friends for example. It was one of the first new stamp sets I ordered and I am literally freaking out over all the possibilities with this set!!!  I also ordered the Here for You stamp set and I think these work perfectly together, don't you?

Are you drooling over that Designer Series Paper?  It's from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack and the colors combos/patterns are phenomenal......Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Whisper White with just a bit of Calypso Coral thrown in (not shown here but way cool!). The Smoky Slate stitched ribbon coordinates beautifully with this paper so don't forget to order it, too.

littlestinker2

I built the skunk from the Fox Builder Punch and Whisper White, Basic Black, and Smoky Slate card stocks.  The tree stump is from the Foxy Friends stamp set and the greeting is from the Here for You stamp set.  The layout is based on this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

Hello Swirly Bird

swirlyhellocloseup

I've got one final Swirly Bird card for you this week.  I think it is one of my favorites!  You must really be enjoying these samples, too.....every order from the new catalog that I've received (so far) has included this bundle!  It is incredibly versatile and will pair with any greeting stamps that you may already own.

swirlyhello

I began by stamping some of the smaller images (swirl, splatter, flower) in Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, and Mint Macaron ink randomly across the top part of the card.  I stamped off the Peekaboo Peach and Mint Macaroon to give a lighter shading on those stamps.  I also stamped the large, solid circle off in Sweet Sugarplum and the larger swirl full strength in Peekaboo Peach....both along the left side of the card.

SwirlyHello2

I die cut several of the swirls and leaves from Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, and Mint Macaron card stock.  The leaves were also stamped with Mint Macaron ink using another image from the Swirly Bird stamp set.  The final touches are a few of the White Perfect Accents and "hello" from Endless Birthday Wishes stamped in Basic Black ink.

We've got another crazy weekend planned for the Stout household which includes a few graduation open house parties.  I'm a little sad that my son missed his graduation ceremony, but so thankful for the wonderful support he received before he left.  Next weekend is Bella's ballet recital, then maybe, just maybe, life will begin to return to normal.  I feel like we've been on the go forever.   It'll be nice to take a break and slow down.

For those of you that are local, don't forget the New Catalog Launch Party on Sunday, June 12th from 2pm--4pm at Stout Chiropractic.  Hope to see you there!

Quick & Easy Birthday

swirlybirthdaycloseup

Today is my husband's 39th birthday and I was also challenged to create a Quick & Easy card for the Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration blog.  Therefore, it was a perfect opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone.  And speaking of birds, guess which stamp set I used today?  That's right!  It's another Swirly Bird card.

swirlybirthday2

The base of the card is Crumb Cake card stock measuring 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2".  The top Very Vanilla card stock layer measures 4" x 5-1/4".  You can cut the paper for this card in less than a minute!  The stamping is almost as quick.

swirlybirthday

I stamped the "happy birthday" from Watercolor Words in Early Espresso near the middle of the Very Vanilla card stock.  I filled in the bottom with stamped-off Crumb Cake swirls, Dapper Denim swirls at full strength, and some Early Espresso splatters in various strengths.

Now, I was technically done with the card, but I had ink on my fingers and smudged the top corner.  Just remember, a mistake is an opportunity for embellishment.  Therefore, I added a strip of Dapper Denim 3/8" Ruched Ribbon to hide my boo-boo.

I can't wait to try this same card with a different color combo!

New Catalog Day!!!!

Cataloglaunch

It's kind of like Christmas morning for stampers.  We love new stamps and this catalog definitely delivers so many new items.  I don't know about you, but this catalog is not wallet-friendly.  I'm going to try to help you out, though, by sharing some of my favorites.  This week, my focus has been solely on the Swirly Bird stamp set and coordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  I think this will be on most people's wish lists just because it is so versatile.

swirlylayeringlove

Today, I paired the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits with the Layering Love stamp set and the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack.  I pulled out the Sweet Sugarplum color from the background paper and used it for my card base, ribbon accent, and stamping.  It is such a pretty color!  Very unique and unlike anything we've had for awhile.

Swirlysugarplum

Here are the measurements for the card layers:

Base ~ 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2"

DSP:  4" x 5-1/4"

Whisper White Layer:  3-1/2" x 4-3/4"

swirlysugarplum2

I simply die-cut the swirl from the center of the Whisper White card stock, then adhered the panel to the front of the card with lots of dimensionals. Then, I adhered the swirly white pieces inside the die-cut area, but directly onto the DSP to create a very dimensional look.
