Control Freaks April Tour: Ladies & Gentlemen

Freakwelcome2013

Welcome to the Control Freaks monthly blog tour!  I am so excited to be joining these ladies again this month. Our theme this month is Ladies & Gentlemen.  If you started at the beginning of the tour, you just visited the very talented, Connie Babbert.

I know some people really struggle with creating masculine cards, but I'm going to show you an easy formula that I find very helpful.  I like to use a sketch as my starting point for the design. On today's cards, I'm using this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  Then, I select my papers and stamps:  Suite Sayings stamp set and It's My Party Designer Series Paper.

By simply changing the colors of the cards, I can easily have a masculine or feminine card.  You'll notice that all the other elements are exactly the same.

Paper Measurements

Whisper White card base:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Basic Black card stock:  4" x 5-1/4"

Whisper White card stock:  3-7/8" x 5-1/8"

Black DSP layers (3):  1-1/2" x 3-1/2"

DSP banners:  1/2" thick

I embellished both cards with the It's My Party enamel dots and punched stars from Silver Glimmer Paper.

The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set.  The 2" circle punch fits it perfectly.

Try this next time you're struggling with a masculine card.  Find a layout/design that you like and simply switch out the colors and patterns for a more masculine look. Here is one more example using the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper and Greatest Greetings stamp set.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Challenge

Check out this gorgeous picture that Jennifer selected to inspire us for our monthly challenge.  If you're feeling crafty, we'd love to have you join us.  You can link up your creation and check out what the other designers created HERE.

I knew immediately that I wanted to use the Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper and the globe image from the Going Global stamp set.  I kept the layout simple by using a sketch from CAS(E) this sketch.

vintagegoingglobalcu

I stamped the globe with Early Espresso ink onto Very Vanilla card stock, then punched it out with the 2" circle punch.  I layered it onto the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The sentiment "you mean the world to me" pairs perfectly with the vibe of this card.

Monday Montage 67

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 8 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

I was so sad to have missed hanging out with my Stampin' UP! friends this past week at On Stage Live in Salt Lake City.  We just returned from Spring Break last Saturday, so it would have been really difficult to turn around and leave again.  This vacation was our last trip before Chandler heads off to boot camp next month.  I know I did the right thing, but Dang!  It's hard not to see my buddies and get my hands on new stamps.

So, yes....I did have a little pity party for myself.  But then I remembered that I do have new stamps!  Paper Pumpkin subscribers received a bonus stamp set this month called All About Everything.  There are some great images and greetings in this set, so I whipped up a few cards to inspire you.

As you can see, these are quick & easy cards that I created with minimal supplies. All you need is a little Whisper White and Basic Black card stock, plus a few ink pads--Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Basic Black, Old Olive, and Crushed Curry.

Paper Pumpkin subscribers get a surprise in their mailbox every month.  If you'd like to learn more about this monthly subscription, click HERE.

This month, we are surprising one of our designers with an online Baby Shower.  Kim Ryden welcomed baby Micah to the world a little earlier than we expected this past Sunday.  It's a good thing we've had this in the works for awhile.  I'll be putting these gifts in the mail today.

You can never have too many baby shirts for a newborn.  I designed this shirt in Silhouette Studio, then cut heat-transfer vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo.  I love being able to personalize these shirts!

Kim also has 2 older children, so I wanted to send them a little something, too.  I found some inexpensive shirts at Target to embellish with "Big Sister" and "Big Brother" layered vinyl.  And of course, there has to be a "Little Brother" shirt.

I hope Kim likes the shirts for the kids and that they'll enjoy showing off their new status.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge #32

Ssinkcc32

We have a fabulous Color Challenge on Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration today and we'd love to have you play along.  You can check out what the other designers have created and upload your own project HERE.

The background paper on this card is from the Soft Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.  I really love having these paper stacks because I now have patterned paper in all the color families.

The greeting is from the Suite Sayings stamp set and the die-cuts were created with the Big Shot and the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  I added a few white dots to the flower center with a white gel pen.

You'll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 10 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

There seems to be a bit of a baby boom going on.  I know so many couples that are pregnant right now, so I need to get ready with some baby cards.

happybaby

I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout, then selected the Made with Love stamp set for my focal point and greeting.  I love that this stamp set coordinates with the Baby's First Framelits dies.  It makes it so easy to get a perfect cut around the image.

happybabycloseup

The Schoolhouse Designer Series Paper seemed gender neutral to me, so I can make up a bunch of these cards for all the new babies on the way.  I added a few Brights Candy Dots to embellish the card.

My next card class will be featuring cards for babies and kids.  If you are local, check it out HERE.

Cutting the Cheese

It's April Fools Day and the designers over at Stylin' Stampin' INKSPiration are featuring funny cards on the blog today.  You can check out what my friends have created HERE

20160331_002714000_iOS

A few of my "cheese-y" friends have had birthdays recently.  I thought the Giggle Greetings stamp set would be perfect to celebrate their special days.

20160331_002808000_iOS

The cheese was pieced together with paper, then I used dimensionals to pop it up.  The sentiment was heat embossed with White embossing powder to make it stand out on the Basic Black card stock.

You'll find a complete list of supplies for this card at the end of the post.
