Watercolor Birthday

Today, I am sharing a ridiculously simple birthday card. As much as I love to WOW you with my creations (wink--wink), most of the cards that I actually send to people are rather simple, especially if I need to mail the card.  Well, my mom has requested that I send her a birthday card.

FMS Final 221-001

So, I used the Freshly Made Sketch from this week for the layout.

20160130_161816000_iOS

The background was created by using an Aquapainter and Daffodil Delight ink refill to brush on color randomly over a piece of Shimmery White card stock. After the card stock has completely dried, I stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment from the Watercolor Words stamp set in Basic Black archival ink.

20160130_161746000_iOS

I added a few Itty Bitty Accents Clear Epoxy Stickers, then layered it onto a piece of Neutrals Designer Series Paper.  The coordinating envelope was easy to make with the Envelope Punch Board and Brights Designer Series Paper.

You will find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Sun is Shining!

20160130_161834000_iOS

Wow!  What is that bright, shiny thing in the sky?

It's a gorgeous day in Indiana and I hope you are enjoying it as well.

Today's card is bright & cheerful.  It is based on a sketch from CAS(E) this sketch.

CTS_157

I knew the Sunburst die would be perfect to use and I was inspired by the guest designer to also do some watercoloring.  I started by using an Aquapainter to create a wash of Daffodil Delight ink on the upper portion of the card.  Next, I die cut the Sunburst die using the Brights Designer Series Paper.  I cut the Sunburst a second time using a Circles thinlits die.

20160130_161921000_iOS

I also did a watercolor wash of Bermuda Bay ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock before punching out the cloud shape with the Tree Builder punch.  The Black polka dot strip of Neutrals Designer Series Paper was punched with the Banner Triple punch.  I also punched a small heart from Real Red card stock.

20160130_161941000_iOS

The sentiment is from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set, which coordinates with the Sunburst die.  You can purchase them both in a bundle to save 15%.  I punched out the sentiment with the 1-3/4" circle punch.

20160130_161853000_iOS

All the elements were adhered to the front of the card, mostly with Dimensionals. I used a TON on this card!  You'll also see that I added one of the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Sticker over the heart to give it some dimension.

There is a complete list of all the products used on this card at the end of this post.  Don't forget that you can select a FREE Sale-a-Bration item with every $50 purchase!  It's a great time to get some fun stamping products like the Sunburst bundle.

Love my Baby Bear

20160128_192647000_iOS

We are featuring our Friday Favorites on Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration today.  I selected the Love Blossoms suite as my current favorite.  I'm absolutely loving the Designer Series Paper and all the cute accessories in the embellishment kit.  I paired these items with the Bear Hugs stamp set and this week's Mojo Monday sketch to create this cute card for my daughter.

Mojo432

Because this is a square card, I started with a Crumb Cake card base measuring 4-1/4" x 4-1/4".  I like this size because it can still fit in our standard envelopes and be sent through the mail.

20160128_192740000_iOS

I created the banners by cutting strips of the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper in 1" and 1-1/2" widths.  The ends were punched with the Banner Triple punch.

20160128_192802000_iOS

The bears were stamped with Early Espresso ink onto Crumb Cake card stock, then die-cut with the coordinating die set.  I added embellishments from the Love Blossoms Embellishment kit to "dress" up the bears.

I'll be putting this card in my daughter's lunch today as a little surprise.  I hope she likes it and it brings a smile to her face.

You're So Vintage!

20160127_015734000_iOS

Today I have paired the Sky is the Limit stamp set with the That Thing You Did stamp set to create a simple birthday card for an old vintage friend.  It's pretty sad to reach the age when everything you grew up with is now considered vintage.  At least I haven't reach antique stage.  LOL!

20160127_015757000_iOS

I started with one of the Crumb Cake note cards as my base.   Next, I stamped the plane image and sentiment in Early Espresso ink onto a 3-1/4" x 4-3/4" piece of Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.

20160127_015822000_iOS

The final step was to add a few Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers (if you're vintage, they are hard to see).

This card can be created in less than 5 minutes!  Keeping a stash of the Note Cards & Envelopes handy at all times can really speed up your card-making.  I recommend getting a package of the Whisper White & Crumb Cake.

Simple Masculine Birthday Card

20160127_015503000_iOS

I know some of you struggle with creating masculine cards.  This Sky is the Limit stamp set is a great one to add to your stamp set collection because it is so versatile and absolutely perfect for those tricky manly cards.  You can get it FREE with any $50 purchase in my online store through February 15th.

20160127_015409000_iOS

For this card, I started by cutting a piece of the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper to 4" x 5-1/4".  Next, I cut about 2" off the bottom and reversed the paper before adhering it to the card base.  I die-cut the Sunburst thinlit die with vellum cardstock, then adhered it over the top half of the card, being careful to "hide" any adhesive.  A 1" x 4-1/4" strip of Island Indigo card stock hides all the seams.

20160127_015439000_iOS

For the tag, I started with a 2" strip of Whisper White card stock.  I punched one end with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and the other end with the Triple banner punch.  I tied a small piece of Basic Black Baker's Twine through the top of the tag.  The airplane and sentiment were stamped with Island Indigo ink.

Memories in the Making

I'm making a commitment this year to get more scrapbooking done and I'll be sharing some layouts with you periodically.  I just received the Memories in the Making Project Life bundle and it might be my favorite Project Life by Stampin' UP! kit so far.  I really love the stamp set!  It's going to be perfect for some Valentine's cards, too.

20160126_010151000_iOS

The great thing about the bundle is that you get the card collection, accessory pack, and stamp set.  Plus, with a $50 purchase you  qualify for a FREE Sale-a-Bration item, including another add-on card collection.  Everything coordinates!

20160126_011130000_iOS

The first thing I do when I get a new kit is to write the coordinating Stampin' UP! colors on the back of the box, below the label. Then, I can easily grab the right colors of cardstock, markers, or ink pads to go with my pages.

20160126_011221000_iOS

I layered this cute pic onto one of the 4" x 6" cards, then added the pink heart.  I stamped "smile" in Watermelon Wonder ink onto the gold & white banner.

20160126_011304000_iOS

Since my daughter is getting a little older and this page is all about "her day", I thought I would have her tell the story in her own words/handwriting.  It's not perfect, but that's what I love about it. Normally, the misspelled words and bad punctuation would drive me crazy.  However, I am going to embrace these imperfections.  It's a true reflection of our imperfect life.

20160126_011244000_iOS

Unfortunately, I'm just as critical of my own handwriting.  I'm going to learn to embrace it, too.  On this card, the gold swirl embellishment and wooden heart are from the accessory pack.  These little extras just pop off the page.

20160126_011157000_iOS

On this last card, I added some embellishments, a stamp, and some adhesive numbers for the year.

20160126_010328000_iOS

This layout took just a few minutes.  It's so easy when everything coordinates.  You can get your Memories in the Making Project Life bundle HERE.

Monday Montage 61

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 10 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

20160125_001345000_iOS

It's so hard to pick a favorite from the Sale-a-Bration brochure this year!  And since I couldn't pick one, I'm featuring 2 Sale-A-Bration products in today's blog post:  Sky is the Limit stamp set and the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.  These items are only available until February 15th, so time is running out to get them.

20160125_001321000_iOS

I started by die-cutting Crushed Curry card stock with the Sunburst thinlits die and the Big Shot.  I adhered it to the Whisper White card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Next, I stamped the sentiment and heart trail in Basic Black ink onto a piece of the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.  This paper was adhered directly over the Sunburst with SNAIL adhesive.  I added a small strip of Silver Glimmer paper and a few punched "clouds" (tree-builder punch).  A tiny bit of Clear Wink of Stella was added to the clouds to make them shimmer.

20160125_001406000_iOS

I wanted my airplane to shine, so I inked up my stamp in Versamark ink, then Real Red ink.  I stamped quickly onto Whisper White card stock, sprinkled the image with Clear Embossing Powder, and used my heat tool to melt the powder.  I fussy cut the image, then added a vellum circle and silver mini brad as a propeller.  The image was then popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Time to Make the Doughnuts

20160121_182505000_iOS

Saturday mornings at our house is often Doughnut day. I hope that one day my kids have fond memories of waking up to the smell of homemade treats.  There really is nothing better than that smell!

FMS Final 220-001

Today's card is simple & quick featuring a layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the Sprinkles on Top stamp set.

20160121_182441000_iOS

I started by stamping the doughnut images in Early Espresso and Melon Mambo ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped some at full-strength and some I stamped off first to create a slightly lighter shade.  I then used the 3/4" circle punch them out. I also added a bit of Wink of Stella to the doughnuts to make them shimmer.

20160121_182345000_iOS

The background paper is from the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper in the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  This item will only be available until February 15th, so don't miss it!  The complete supply list along with links to purchase is at the end of this post.

Botanical Blooms Thank You

20160121_182237000_iOS

It's been awhile since I've played along on Mojo Monday, but this week's sketch was just too good to pass up.

Mojo431

For today's card, I used a color combination of Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Hello Honey, Watermelon Wonder, and Mossy Meadow. The card base is Sahara Sand card stock measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  I cut a second piece of Sahara Sand card stock to 4" x 5-1/4", then wrapped it with a sheet of the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum so that no adhesive would show.

20160121_182208000_iOS

I die cut the edge of a 2" x 4" piece of Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper.  From cardstock, I die cut the flowers and leaves, then layered them together.  The "thanks" sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set.  I stamped it in Basic Black archival ink onto a scrap of Sahara Sand card stock, then punched it out with the 2" circle punch.  It was then layered onto a 2-1/2" circle punched from Basic Black card stock.

20160121_181956000_iOS

I completed the card by adhering the flowers with Dimensionals and adding a few candy dots.  You can find the complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

Flowering Fields "Coloring Book" Card

20160121_163643000_iOS

Have you caught the coloring bug?  I haven't, but I love the gorgeous look of those garden-y, adult coloring books. I tried to recreate that look in today's card with a layout from CAS(E) this sketch.

CTS_156

I started by stamping a row of images from the Flowering Fields stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink.  Did you know that you can get this stamp set FREE with a $50 order?

20160121_163817000_iOS

Next, I layered a piece of striped Go Wild Designer Series Paper and Basic Black 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.

20160121_163719000_iOS

The "Thank You" sentiment is from the What I Love stamp set....another set that you can get for FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 order.  I punched it out with the Washi Label punch, added a sparkly Botanical Gardens Jewel, and popped it up with Dimensionals.
