Quick & Easy Cards

Whew!  This has been a very busy Sale-a-Bration.  I ran out of Thank You cards in mid-February.  Unfortunately, I'm also running very low on time.  Can you relate?

Well, the designers over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration are featuring Quick & Easy cards today.  I decided to whip up another batch of Thank You cards using the Painted Petals stamp set and the Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.

Paintedpetalshoney

Color combo:  Hello Honey, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake

Paintedpetalsred

Color Combo:  Real Red, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Basic Black

It took me less than an hour to stamp about 20 of these cards.  Now if I can just get them in the mail this week......LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!

Monday Montage 40

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 10 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

I absolutely love the new Just Kidding stamp set.  Next week, I'll be having a Funny Cards Class and will be featuring the cards I'm sharing today.  With the discontinuation of the Blendabilities, I wanted to show a variety of ways to stamp and color with our line-art images.

ThatisnotevenaquestionKEEP IT SIMPLE:  I stamped the image and greeting onto a Whisper White note card with Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad.  The note cards are perfect for creating a quick card--they are cut and scored and ready to go!  I added a little color with a few Stampin' Write markers.  For the skin tone, I used a Blender Pen with Pink Pirouette ink.

DON'T COLOR AT ALL:  Black & White cards are cool.  No need to color if  you don't want to!  This card was created with the Mojo Monday sketch.  The On Film Framelit, Back to Black Designer Series Paper, and Real Red ribbon keep the black and white image from being too boring.  The "friend" is from the From the Herd stamp set.

WATERCOLOR:  On this card, I stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  Then, I used an Aquapainter and various ink pads to watercolor the image.  This layout was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

There is a complete list of supplies used on all of the cards at the end of this post.

Easter Cards

Today at Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration, the designers are sharing Easter cards.  If you need some inspiration, check out their creations here.

Hoppyeaster

I began by watercoloring a piece of Shimmery White card stock with an aquapainter and ink refills.  Check out yesterday's post if you'd like to see a quick "how-to" video.

Then, I stamped the bunny image and die cut with the ovals framelits.  I stamped the bunny onto Baked Brown Sugar and Strawberry Slush card stock, then cut out the body and bow for the bunny to paper piece onto the oval stamped bunny image.  A white gel pen was used to accent the teeth and ears.  To give the bunny a little fluff, I cut very tiny pieces of white bakers twine and added it to body and tail with Tombow multi-adhesive.

The greeting is from the stamp set, For Peep's Sake.  The background was embossed with the Spring Flowers embossing folder and the Big Shot.

A complete list of supplies is at the end of this post.

Cinderella-Inspired Watercolor Background

Watercolor

I've had a lot of people ask how I created the watercolor background on my "Cinderella" card.  It's so easy and fun!  I created a quick video and I hope you'll try it for yourself.

This is one of the cards shown in the video.  After I completed the watercoloring, I stamped the flowers and stems from the Painted Petals stamp set at the bottom of the card.

Cinderella

The card base is Pool Party cardstock measuring 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2".

The next layer is vellum card stock measuring 4" x 5-1/4".

The watercolored panel measures 3-1/4" x 4-1/2".

A complete list of supplies can be found at the end of this post.  If you like what you see, be sure to subscribe to my weekly newsletter (see box in the right column).  Every Tuesday, you'll be notified of Stampin' Up! specials, events, and I share exclusive samples.

Fit for a Princess

Cinderella

Yesterday, Bella and I went to see the movie, Cinderella.  It's very good, in case you were wondering.  Go see it!  So today's card was inspired by the movie and this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.

CTS_Sketch_114

For the card background, I spritzed Shimmery White card stock with lots of water.  Then, I used an aquapainter and re-inkers to add color to the corners.  The colors I used were Pool Party and Marina Mist.  I gave it plenty of time to dry, then used my iron (yes, a regular iron) to flatten the card stock.  It will tend to warp when watercoloring and I have found that ironing the paper afterwards helps with the warping.

HappilyeverafterEach watercolored panel was layered onto Brushed Silver card stock, then adhered onto the card base with dimensionals.  The "Happily Ever After" greeting is from the stamp set Big News.  I stamped it with Pacific Point ink.  And finally, I punched several butterflies from vellum cardstock and adhered them to the card with mini glue dots.  I tried to hide the adhesive with the rhinestones and was mildly successful.

I've got one more Cinderella-inspired project to share......

Bella informed me that she would need a Cinderella outfit to wear to the movie.  Seriously, it's hard living with a girly-girl sometimes!  Since a new outfit is not in the budget right now, I figured I could pull something together.

I ended up making her a Cinderella shirt using my Silhouette Cameo and Heat Transfer Vinyl.

The image I used is available in the Silhouette store and there are many more princesses just like this one.  Because the image is so simple, this shirt took me less than 20 minutes to make!  I'm not joking.

We paired the shirt with a cute skirt and she was good to go!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Happy Crafting!

One of my favorite stamp sets from the Annual Catalog is Flower Patch.  It's photopolymer, has matching framelit dies, and has sat on my shelf unused for way too long!  For this card, I kept the design clean & simple using this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

Flowershop2

There's not much to explain on this card.....just some stamping, some die-cutting and a few candy dots for embellishments.  Super simple!

You'll find all of the supplies for this bright & cheerful card at the very end of this post.

The Fine Print

I'm changing gears today with a Silhouette Cameo project.  I belong to a Facebook group called The Silhouette Challenge.  This month's challenge is Word Art or Typography, and there is a bonus challenge of using sketch pens.  I've had my sketch pens for over a year and haven't used them.....guess I needed a little push to get me going!

Fineprintcards1The files I used to create these cards are from the Fine Print Greetings Card Template Digital Download.   There are 15 SVG greetings included.  At first glance, the cards appear to be insulting or mean.   However, you must read the fine print!

Fpnotsogreat
You're Not So Great. You're Perfect.
Fphowcouldyou
I Don't Know How I Could Ever Live Without You.
Yousuck
If You Were A Vacuum You Would Suck Really Well.

The sketch pens were so easy to use!  I'm not sure why I waited so long.  Helpful tip:  scribble on a scratch piece of paper to get the pens started before placing in the Cameo.  If they've sat for awhile, they may not write without a little help first.

At the very end of this post, you'll find all of the supplies to create this project.  Click on Print Recipe to get a step-by-step tutorial.  Be sure to click the box to see the instructional images to see the screen shots of each step.

Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration Card Sketch 19

Birthdaysketchchallenge

We have a great card sketch at Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration today and it would be great if you played along with us!  You can check out what our designers did with the sketch by clicking here.

March - #SSINKCS19

I decided to keep my design very clean & simple.  The Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper was a perfect splash of color.  And check out those 3 little accents.....I punched 1/2" circles of paper, then adhered the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers over the circles to add some dimension.

Birthdaysketchside

The greeting is from the Big Day stamp set.  You can get the stamp set FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration.  This special ends on March 31st!

Monday Montage 39

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  Every other Monday, my friends and I share inspiring projects.  Be sure to visit all 10 stops.....you don't want to miss anything!

Today I held a class using the Simply Created Hooray It's Your Day Project kit.  This kit has (almost) everything you need to create 20 adorable birthday cards.  You will need the stamp set, some ink and adhesive to complete the cards as shown below.

Hooray

Most of the cards use spritzers filled with re-inkers and alcohol to create unique backgrounds.  While spritzing creates a softer background, I decided to try some sponging to create a deeper color.   For this card, I used sponge daubers and ink pads to add color to the lines.  The paper is already pre-printed with white glossy areas, so the resist effect is effortless.  And don't you just love the wooden "hello"?  I need about a dozen more of those.

Hoorayitsyourday2

On this card, I simply used the mask over my card stock before I sponged on the colors.  I love how bright and cheerful it is!

Hoorayitsyourdayhello

And in case you are wondering, I used the suggested colors from the kit.......Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush, Wild Wasabi, and Bermuda Bay.  You'll find a complete supply list at the end of this post.

Our Newest Family Member

Last year, we lost two of our dogs to old age.  George (the basset hound) passed away from cancer in April and we lost Weenie (the dachshund) to congestive heart failure in December.  Both lived good, long lives and spent their final days getting lots of love and extra treats.

HPIM1010
We still have our Border Collie mix, Jasmine.  She's such a good dog but I felt like she was a bit lonely.  And I have to admit, the house was very quiet.  Too quiet at times.  I missed the activity that only 3 dogs can provide.  And while I will probably never have 3 at the same time again, I was ready for one more.

Enter GIZMO......

We visited our local rescue group looking for a medium-sized, older dog.  That's not what we got!  However, we are very happy with our adorable new pup (she's actually about a year old).   She is apparently a Pekingnese-Terrier mix, and only weighs about 10 pounds.

10995667_10204955975833948_2510411796093231794_n

After her first long day with the Stout clan, she crashed in her new spot on the couch.  She hasn't bonded much with Jasmine yet, but we are hopeful they'll become buddies.

I may not get much stamping done this week.  At least you know why.  :0)
