Monday Montage 27

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop! I'm just going to apologize now for not having a project from the Holiday catalog.  My daughter has requested a Memaid-theme for her 8th birthday and I'm in "under the sea" mode.  Yesterday, I spent 5 hours working on her invitations.....this isn't the invite.  I'll share it once the party is over.

CTS_90
I used this week's sketch from CAS(E) this sketch so that I wouldn't have to think too much.  There is a lot of white space, but I think it really makes the focal point pop even more.

Bythetide2

For the background, I used the Night of Navy Blendabilities markers to simply color from darkest(bottom) to lightest(top).  I then stamped the coral image in White Craft ink over the background.

Bythetide1

A small component of Bella's birthday invitation is some glittery bubbles made with the new Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and Blendabilities.  This paper is AMAZING and the effects you can create are just WOW!

I didn't really want to cut out the fish and seahorse, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to do all the hard work.  I've got a tutorial on how to do this here.

Be sure to check out all 10 stops on the hop!  I know my friends have some amazing projects to share this week.

Mingle All the Way

  Mingle3

So we have finally started to have some SUMMER (i.e. HOT) weather in Indiana, and that has me yearning for cooler temps again.  I'm not quite ready for snow, but I can at least put together a snowy card.

Mingle2

I used this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to design the card.  It is very simple, but there is a lot of shine from the foil-accented paper.  And don't you just adore that cute snowflake embellishment?

As you probably already know, you can now order from the Holiday Catalog.  (YIPPEE!)

SHOP NOW FOR HOLIDAY PRODUCTS

From Friday, August 29th through Monday, September 1st, when you order $100 or more in my online store, I will send you the All is Calm Snowflake Embellishments FREE!  Please do not check the "NO Contact" box or I won't know who ordered or where to send your goodies.

Have a safe and happy weekend!

More Bokeh

Bokehcu

I had some left overs from my experimentation with the Bokeh technique, so I thought one of my smaller scraps would work well with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.  One of my Jamberry consultants is really rocking it this month, so I think I'll send her this special card.

CTS_89

For this background, I used Strawberry Slush, Crisp Canteloupe, Baked Brown Sugar, and Daffodil Delight.  To keep it really simple, I used the Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.  These are pre-cut and pre-scored....perfect for making a quick card.

Bokeh1

I accented the background with a combination of the 2013-2015 In Color Sequins and Basic Pearls.

The Holiday Catalog launches on Thursday, August 28th.  If you would like a copy sent to you and you aren't currently working with a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I would be happy to send one to you.  Email me at [email protected] for more information.

Using PixScan Technology with Stamped Images

Bloom1

I'm really loving the new Blended Bloom stamp and the Blendabilities Markers.  The only thing I hate is cutting out that flower all the time. So imagine how excited I was to find out there was an easier way to fussy cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Bloom2

Earlier this month, Silhouette released several new products including the PixScan mat.  I thought it looked interesting and was certainly willing to try it.  OMG!!!  It is amazing and I can't wait to use it for some other projects I've got planned.

Pixscanbloom

Basically, you put your stamped image onto the PixScan mat, take a picture of it and upload it to the Silhouette software.  A few clicks and you are ready to cut out your image....perfectly.  I shot a quick video so you can see for yourself how easy it is.

I really can't wait to try this out with some of my other stamps!  If you would like to purchase any of the products shown, I've got a printable list available at the end of this post.  By the way, are you enjoying that new feature on my blog?  I'm always looking for new ways to make things easier on my readers.

Holiday Sneak Peek and a Mashup, too!

Wow!  What a busy week.....I'm so glad the weekend is here.  I woke up this morning to find that my Back-to-School Project Life card (see it here) was being featured on the TAMS Facebook page as their pick of the week AND that I Rocked the Friday Mashup.  How cool is that?!  I can't think of a better way to kick off the weekend.

The Friday Mashup posts a new challenge every Friday and I am so excited about this week's challenge featuring a technique called Bokeh.  I had never heard of it, but it looked beautiful and I couldn't wait to try it.

Joy3

I followed all of the steps in Dawn's video tutorial, but substituted with Stampin' Up! products.  I used an aquapainter to get the watercolor paper very wet before adding colors.  My "paint" was classic reinkers.  I just grabbed the following colors:  Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Island Indigo, and Tempting Turquoise.

Joy1

When my paper was completely dry, I added Whisper White craft ink with a sponge dauber and a stencil that I had created with a window sheet and the Circles Framelits.  As a final step, I used the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and the Silver Encore ink pad to add some silver speckles.

Joy2

Since part of the challenge was to use die-cuts, I cut the "Joy" with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits die and the Big Shot.  I cut one from Silver Foil paper and another from Basic Black cardstock, then layered them together to give it some dimension.

The Frosted Sequins are another new product that will be available in the Holiday catalog.  You'll be able to start ordering Holiday catalog products on Thursday, August 28th.   It won't be long before you can get your hands on some of these amazing new stamps, paper & accessories.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Monday Montage 26

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!  I've been on a roll with sharing Holiday catalog sneak peeks, so I'm not about to stop.  There is a new Project Life by Stampin' Up! card collection called Seasonal Snapshot.  This collection gives you everything you need to record events from Autumn to Christmas.  It is absolutely perfect for Back-to-School Project Life layouts.

Plbts

The kids went back to school this week!  Yippee!!!!  Obviously I'm not one of those moms that cries when the kids return to school....quite the opposite.  We crave routine in our house, so everything feels like it is getting back to "normal".

Plbts2

Bella is in 2nd grade this year.  She wore pencil knee socks the first day, so I love the coordinating pencil cards.  The page isn't quite finished as I need to do some more journaling, but I did manage to fit in a few stamps.

Plbts3

Chandler is a junior in High School.  It was dark in the morning when he left for school, so I had to get pictures when he got off the bus.  He also indulged me by taking a few selfies.

Plcard

And even though I don't cry, I still feel this way.

I used some additional cards from the Seasonal Snapshot collection for this card.  The pencil was created by die-cutting the base shape with the Big Shot and the Homemade Holiday Framelits die (another fun new product).  You can get all the measurements and instructions by clicking the recipe at the end of this post.

Be sure to check out all 10 stops on the hop!  I know my friends have some amazing projects to share this week.

Holiday Sneak Peek: Fall Fest & Holiday Invitation

Scary3

I hope you are enjoying these sneak peeks into the Holiday catalog.  This is probably one of my all-time favorite catalogs and I can't wait for you to see it!

Many of the new stamp sets are photopolymer.  It takes all the guesswork out of placement.  I was able to easily stamp the pumpkin faces exactly where I wanted.....the first time!  I was also able to curve the "Be Scary" greeting because of the flexibility of the photopolymer stamp.  How cool is that?

One tip that I learned at convention:  if you are having trouble getting a clean stamped image from the photopolymer stamps, try using the Stampin' Pierce Mat for your stamping surface.  It really helps!

Scary2

Another exciting thing about some of the new holiday catalog products.....many of the stamp sets have coordinating punches or framelits.  The Fall Fest stamp set and Fun Fall framelits die is just one of the bundles available.

It's just one more reason that you should really take advantage of this month's Big Shot Special.  If you don't own a Big Shot, now is the time to get one!

Scary1

I'm changing a few things around on my blog.  You may have noticed that I'm now providing you with a printable supply list and links for the products used on each card.  I'm trying this out so let me know if you like this new feature.

Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Sneak Peek: For All Things

Fall3
Okay, I might be jumping the gun a bit, but we've had very Fall-ish weather in Indiana recently.  It's hard not to get excited....plus my kids go back to school this week (insert happy dance).  That means Fall is truly right around the corner.

The Work of Art stamp set is probably my favorite from the new annual catalog.  I was absolutely gleeful when I saw a stamp set in the Holiday catalog in the same watercolor style.  It is call For All Things and it is going to be perfect for Fall, Thanksgiving, and other Thankful occasions.  I love it and and I think you will, too.  Here's a little peek....

Fall2

There is also coordinating Designer Series Paper and Designer Washi Tape called Color Me Autumn.  It is so rich and colorful!  I folded the Washi tape over Linen Thread to create a little banner for the front of the card.  You'll also notice that I added one of those cute gold basic metal buttons.

Fall1

You can order products from the Holiday catalog beginning August 28th.  Stay tuned for more sneak peeks.  And if you are local.....be sure to stop by Stout Chiropractic on August 20th for the TRY IT night.  You'll get your hands on Project Life and Blendabilities plus get a first look at many of the new Holiday Catalog products.

Holiday Sneak Peek: Santa Stache

We're still a couple of weeks away from the launch of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, but I thought you might like to start seeing some sneak peeks.

One of my fun favorites from the Holiday Catalog is a stamp set called Santa Stache.  There are 5 stamps:  a santa face, a nutcracker face, and 3 fun sayings.  It also coordinates with the Mustache Framelits Die.  How fun is that?

Santastache

Two more sneak peek items are the Gold Basic Metal Buttons and the Nordic Noel Designer Series Paper.  There are so many fabulous accessories and a great variety of new Designer Series Paper.  You'll definitely want to get your hands on all of them!

Santastachecu

I used the Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, and Skin Tone Assortment of Blendabilities to  color the santa image.  I just love the way it adds dimension to the hat and a rosiness to his cheeks.  I used the lightest color of Smoky Slate to accent the mustache and beard, then went over it with the Color Lifter to lighten and blur the color.

You'll be able to order products from the Holiday Catalog on August 28th.  It's not too early to start your wishlist!  Will the Santa Stache stamp set make it onto your list?

Clean & Simple But a Little Messy

Today I'm sharing one more card from the Clean & Simple swap that I participated in at convention.  For this swap, you had to create a card that could be made by anyone in 10 minutes or less.  Oh, and it had to be a WOW!

Wishbig

I used the swoosh from the Work of Art Stamp set to create the background.  Colors are Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Bermuda Bay.  The sentiment is from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.

Starcu

I taped off a small section of the Stars Decorative Mask, then applied modeling paste over the swooshes.  There's a tutorial here.  As a final step, I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over the paste before it dried.

Give this fun card a try!  It really is quick, easy, and WOW!
