Monday Montage 22

Mondaymontage6

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!

Last time we hopped, I told you that you might want to add the Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks to your next order.  I hope you did, because I've got a super fun background technique for you today!

Starcard

The card features the Pictogram Punches stamp set and the small star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  The colors are Smoky Slate and Hello Honey, a new In Color.  I hand cut the little "swoosh" and then inlaid the background piece with the raised stars.  You won't believe how easy it is to do this!

Starcard1

You'll need the following  supplies:

  • Modeling paste (can be found at most craft stores)
  • Stars Decorative Mask
  • Card Stock (I used Hello Honey)
  • Scraper, putty knife, or something similar

Starcard2

Place card stock under the decorative mask and squeeze a small amount of modeling paste onto the mask.  You can always add more if you need it.  I would also recommend that you protect your work surface...this can be a little messy.

Starcard3

Spread the modeling paste evenly over the mask.

Starcard4

Gently lift off the mask and allow the paste time to dry.  It doesn't take long before it's ready for your finished project.

The background piece gives a lot of dimension to this card.

The stamped and punch stars were suspended from the flag greeting by some white Baker's Twine that had been taped to the back.

I hope you'll try out this background technique on a future project.  As a variation, you can add reinker to the paste to create a colorful, raised background.

Handmade Gift Exchange

Handmadegiftexchange

I've been participating in The Silhouette Challenge Facebook group since last fall.  When they announced the next group event, a Handmade Gift Exchange, I couldn't wait to play along.  We each got paired with another crafter and had to design a special gift for them.  Today, I am sharing the gift that I created for Michelle Beaton.  Be sure to check out her blog:  Weekend Craft.  She is so talented and I know you'll love to see what she made for me.

Handmadegroup

At first, I struggled with what to make for Michelle.  I eventually decided to stick with what I do best.....papercrafts.  And I had to throw in just a little vinyl, too.

Handmadedressset1

My gift set included 4 dress-shaped cards.  I used a file from the Silhouette store for the dress pattern.  Michelle loves vintage & shabby chic, so I selected papers from the Venetian Romance Designer Series paper (retired) for the layers.

Each dress was embellished differently using a combination of flower trim and neutral candy dots.

Handmadebag

All four cards and matching envelopes were packaged in this little gift bag.  I started with the Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bag.  The banner pieces were cut with a file from the Silhouette store.  And don't you just love the stamped saying?  It is from a new stamp set called Work of Art.

Handmadeframe

The framed quote was the final piece of my gift.  I used a coordinating paper for the background and the flower trim around the edges.  The quote is from the My Digital Studio download, Life is all Around.  I love this download for all of it's crafty quotes and it's easy to import the SVG files into the Silhouette Designer Edition.

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop!

I just got  a few goodies from the new catalog on Friday.  We've had guests all weekend, so I haven't really had a chance to play with them.  I figured I could at least use 1 stamp set and come up with a couple of quick ideas for Father's Day.  For both cards, I used the You Rock single stamp.

You Rock Wood-Mount Stamp Set 134862
Price: $10.95

This card was stamped simply with Black Staz-on ink.  I added a star sequin from the 2013-2015 In Color Sequin Assortment(new) and a rhinestone to the greeting.  The Basic Black Chevron Ribbon helps pull it together.Yourrock2

For this card, I started with the Mojo Monday sketch for inspiration.  The star background was creating by sponging Early Espresso ink over the Stars Decorative mask.  The best $2.95 you can spend?  The Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks--I can't wait to play with these some more!

The upper corner of the card was rounded with the new corner rounder.  I also used the 1" and 1-1/4" circle punches for the greeting.
