It's always fun to see where my blog traffic is coming from.  When I checked my traffic stats last week, I was shocked to see how many people were looking for the double easel card tutorial I created last year.  I thought it might be a good time to update this project with some new products.

DoubleeaselclosedThe card folds up in to a simple heart shape, but when you open it........

DoubleeaselsideWOW!  I love this type of card because it is so easy to make and can really make your jaw drop.

Pink & Gold?

Way back in August, Kaitlyn posted some beautiful Thank You cards with a pink and gold color scheme.  At the time, I thought that was a very unique combination of colors.  Then a few days ago, I saw a calendar at Target with a similar color combo.

Now for a true confession:  I don't like gold.  I don't own a single piece of gold jewelry and I certainly don't use gold very much in my creative projects.  So when the Occasions Mini catalog was released and I spotted all those gold products, my reaction was less than enthusiastic.

I always try to embrace new trends, so this is my attempt to give gold a great big hug.

GoldsmilecuI started by embossing a small strip of the gold foil sheet with the Decorative Dots embossing folder (coming soon).  For the background, I used the folder to emboss a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, then lightly rub the raised dots with the Encore Gold ink pad.

You'll see that I used a lot of new products on this card:

The greeting was die cut with the Chalk Talk framelits die.  I love that this set of dies coordinates with so many of our stamp sets!

So what do you think of this unique color combo?  Have you embraced the gold trend?

More Peachy Keen

While I had the Peach Keen stamp set out, I figured I might as well create a card for the MOJO Monday sketch.  I'm really starting to like the entire Retro Fresh line of products.  It just took a little while for them to grow on me.

HellomojocuFor the main greeting, I stamped off the heart image with Tangerine Tango ink before stamping onto the Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I stamped the "Hello friend" in Baked Brown Sugar ink over the heart.

Hellomojo3The filmstrip and arrows were die cut with the coordinating On Film Framelits Die.  I used the new Angled Tag Topper punch to create the tab at the bottom and the Arrows Embossing Folder to add dimension to the background.

So many fun new products......what are your favorites?

Peachy Keen

Peachykeencu
Have you had a chance to check out all the new products in the Occasions Mini catalog?  There are so many fun toys to play with....I wasn't quite sure where to start.  I found a sketch from Decostructing Jen to use as a jumping off point.

PeachykeenI actually started with the Chevron ribbon and combined it with several patterns of the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper.  These are colors that I would NEVER, EVER have put together myself, but I really like the way it turned out.

Peachkeenbundle

The stamp set I used is called Peachy Keen and you can purchase it with the coordinating framelits dies in a bundle.  I can't wait to use some of the other images and dies....check out the camera & frames!

DID YOU KNOW.....when you hover over any of the pictures on my blog, a Pinterest button will pop up.  Just click on it to easily add any of my projects to your Pinterst boards.

Mondaymontageheader

It's a very snowy day in Indiana.  We've gotten almost a foot of snow so far and it's about to get REALLY cold.  Since I'm stuck at home, I decided to play around with one of my newer toys....the Silhouette Cameo.  Even though I've  had it for several months, I have been a bit intimidated to try out something completly different than my usual crafts.

I love the look of shaped cards, so this is my first attempt.....

Weblend

I started by using the Crazy, Mixed-Up Love Digital Download in My Digital Studio.  I colored the image, then exported the file as a jpeg.

Next, I imported the file into the Silhouette Studio software.  From there, I was able to print and cut the image.  I also created 2 additional offset pieces that were cut from Whisper White card stock.  This is what all the pieces looked like when I was done.

ShapedcardI scored one of the Whisper White pieces across the top, approximately 1" down.  I placed adhesive on the area above the score line and adhered the 2 pieces together.  This creates the shaped card base.  The printed piece was then adhered to the front with dimensionals.

Crazy
The inside of the card was stamped with the blender stamp and says "We Blend Well". I love how you can easily mix digital and traditional images!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the hop!
