My Children Wear Dirty Clothes

Okay, I'm in trouble!  Monday is normally my day to get the household chores done....laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping.....whatever needs to be done.  However, last week I stumbled upon this website called SVGcuts and let's just say, that nothing has gotten done around my house since.  I fed my kids chicken nuggets tonight and soon they will be wearing dirty clothes.   Mother of the Year right here!

Instead, I have spent a lot of time putting the finishing touches on my Gingerbread & Halloween houses.  I am absolutely loving these little houses!  I used the SVGcuts Peony Cottage file for the pattern and cut everything with my Silhouette Cameo using Stampin' Up! card stock and Designer Series Paper.

For the Gingerbread house, I glittered the rooftop with Dazzling Diamonds and added the wreath accents to the windows.  The paper is called Season of Style DSP.

I love to decorate for Halloween and this house is going to be the perfect addition to my decor.  The Witches' Brew washi tape, Designer Series Paper, and Black Stampin' Glitter are new products from the Holiday catalog.  And did you see the little guy peeking out the window?

A neat thing about these houses is that the roof is removable.  This means I am able to put some battery operated tea lights inside to light up the houses.  Pretty cool, huh?  I've got more pics of the houses lit up on my Facebook page.  Be sure to LIKE it while you're there!

Monday Montage

Welcome to the very first Monday Montage blog hop!  I'm so excited to continue working with my fellow Artisan finalists in this venue.  These ladies are crazy talented, as I'm sure you've already seen.

One of my personal goals this year is to expand my creative wings in some other directions.  Don't worry!  I'll still be making cards and scrapbook pages.  I just want to try out a few different tools.

My consolation "prize" to myself for not making the design team was a new Silhouette Cameo.  It sat in the box for a couple of weeks because I was a little intimidated by it.  I've used ecutters before, but not one like this.  I finally decided to play with it this weekend and I've had a blast!!!!

This little Victorian Cottage was so much fun to make.  My daughter has already claimed it for her Lala Loopsy dolls, so I've started making 2 more houses for my holiday decorations.  I'll be sharing those projects later this week.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don't miss it!

Halloween Countdown

I've been working hard to design some fun projects for UStamp with Dawn & Friends Heatin' Up the Holidays.  My first project posted to the website today, so I am now able to share it with you.

This is a Halloween countdown calendar made from a muffin tin.  Each numbered area can be removed to reveal fun little treats for your goblins & ghouls.

I used many of the Halloween products featured in the Holiday catalog.  All of these items may be purchased in my online store.

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 10

I'm sad to say that today is the last day of the blog hop.  I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's projects and getting familiar with everyone's creative style.  We have decided to continue to do a bi-weekly blog hop for the next year.  There is so much talent within this group of ladies and I can't wait to see what the next 12 months have in store.

On to today's project.  It's another scrapbook layout created with My Digital Studio.  I printed 2 of these pages, so that I could cut one apart.  The photos are popped up at different levels with dimensionals. I also added dimension to the flowers.  The only hybrid aspect of this page is a little pull-out tag for journaling behind one of the photos.

All of the amazing photos were taken by Stephanie Geisler of Steph's Photography.  She is such an inspiring artist and I love her work.  Her studio is 5 hours away from our home, but she is well worth the drive.  If you live in the St. Louis area, you definitely should check her out.

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 9

Today, I get to share one of my favorite scrapbook pages ever.   When I received the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper, I fell in love.  You've already seen it used on the B Frame, but I couldn't stop there.

I think I used nearly every pattern in that package of Designer Series Paper, cutting it into strips, then stitching it to the page.  The flowers received a special treatment that I'll share in an upcoming tutorial.  This technique is a ton of fun and it'll take you back to kindergarten.  There are also lots of small details....the buttons, clouds, clips.....I just love everything about it.

But my favorite thing about this page is the picture.  I just love my daughter's toothy grin.  She had to have that tooth pulled almost 2 years ago, so we've had a toothless smile for longer than most people.  She can rock it, though!

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 8

It's hard to believe that we've shared most of our projects with you already.  My remaining 3 projects are scrapbook pages.  I've never considered scrapbooking to be my strength, but My Digital Studio makes it easy for anyone to feel like an expert.

This  layout was a lot of fun to create and was created entirely with MDS.  I wanted it to have a vintage look with some funky, modern accents.  Most of the downloads are from the Keep This Memory and Fan Fair kits.  I'll have a complete list of supplies used available at the end of the blog hop.

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 7

Have you ever had a crazy, creative idea that worked?  Well, today's entry was one of my crazy ideas.

I'm not really even sure how I did it.....it just worked out.  I wanted to create a clean rainbow card using the Ovals Framelits.  Each oval of the rainbow is a step up from the center, so it seems like you are looking down into the card.

I couldn't get the rainbow to fit a standard size card, so I opted for a larger, square matchbox-style card.

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 6

Today, I am sharing another bright & cheerful card.  It's one of my favorites and I hope you like it, too!

My favorite detail on this card has to be the Baker's Twine fringe.  I started by placing a piece of sticky strip on the back of a small piece of card stock.  Then I cut a bazillion little pieces of the Baker's Twine and placed them side by side on the sticky strip.  It was definitely a tedious process, but I love the result.

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 5

I love the challenge of creating masculine cards, so I knew that at least one of my Artisan entries would have to be a manly card.  I'm pretty sure this one fits the bill!

The "Special Occasion" stamp is from the Dude, You're Welcome Kit and you can't get any more masculine than that!  I never thought I would actually steal my husband's stamps, but that is exactly what I did.

My favorite detail on this card is the faux denim panel and it was so easy to create.....simply sponge your favorite shade of blue ink onto a Canvas Creations sheet.  You can also fray the edges to give it a worn look.  And don't forget the Vintage Trinkets!

2013 Artisan Finalist Blog Hop--Day 4

Are you enjoying this blog hop as much as I am?  I just love learning about all the little details that went into everyone's projects. 

Today, I am sharing my Clean & Simple card.  I like the look of banners, but I wanted to do something a bit different so I looped the banner flags.  The green polka dot paper was sewed on top of the flags to secure them in place.

The sentiment and splatter stamp are from the My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit.

You'll see that I used my sewing machine on several of my entries. I DON'T SEW!  My poor machine gathers dust most of the time.  But for the artisan contest, I decided to dust it off because I really love stitching on cards.  And if I can do it, ANYONE can do it!
