Eggsciting, isn't it?

Bunnycard

I hope you are enjoying the card samples using the Eggcellent Eggs kit.  I've had a lot of fun designing them!

This card features a Bashful Blue card base, layered with Pretty in Pink and Whisper White cardstock.  The dotted pink strip and bashful blue strip near the bottom of the card are die-cut egg holders, trimmed to fit the card.  I added a strip of adhesive-backed rhinestones between the 2 strips to hide the seam.

Bunnybottomcu

I added some of the white rub-ons to the Pretty in Pink strip at the top of the card.  There are 2 sheets of these rub-ons in every kit!  So pretty!

I'll be away from my computer for a few days while my parents are visiting with us.  I've got some plans for a little March Madness, and you'll definitely want to celebrate my 40th birthday with me on the 19th!  I'm getting a special gift this year and I'll be giving away gifts throughout the month.......check back on Monday, March 1st for more details!

Eggcellent!

Flowercard2

The week is getting away from me and I've still got more cards made with the Eggcellent Eggs kit to share with you.  This is one of my favorites!

The card base is Pretty in Pink layered with Bashful Blue and Whisper White (embossed with Perfect Polka Dots) card stock.  The Certainly Celery strip is another one of the die-cut egg stands.  It is so cute...check out the fringe border.

Flowercu
There are tons of die-cut flowers and leaves in this kit.  You could make quite a few cards featuring the flowers.  And the adhesive-backed rhinestones add such a nice touch as the flower centers.

IMG_0294
I used the wide oval punch to create the certainly celery oval.  The greeting is from the Eggcoutrements stamp set and was punched out with the Designer Label punch.   Another die-cut flower, some leaves and a rhinestone complete the greeting.

Check back tomorrow for another fun card made with the Eggcellent Eggs kit.  These kits are only available while supplies last, so order your kit today!

Eggcellenteggs

If you flip through the Occasions Mini catalog, you might just miss a hidden treasure on page 23....the Eggcellent Eggs kit (item #117179   $9.95).  This kit features die-cut flowers, leaves, and egg stands, as well as rub-ons and adhesive-backed rhinestones.  There are enough supplies to decorate up to 2 dozen eggs!

But what if you don't plan to decorate 2 dozen eggs for Easter?

How about whipping up a few cards?

This week I'll be sharing those card ideas with you and you are going to love them all.  Trust me...it's all in the details.

Chickcard2

The first card is very simple.  The card base is So Saffron card stock, layered with Whisper White and Certainly Celery card stocks.  And by the way, I can make cards without using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  :0)

The chick image is from the Eggcoutrements stamp set.  I stamped it in So Saffron ink onto Whisper White card stock and trimmed it with scissors.  The image was layered onto a 1-3/8" circle of Certainly Celery and a Scallop circle of So Saffron.

Now look closely at the details:

Chickcu

See the So Saffron printed strip....that is one of the die-cut egg stands!  And the white floral border.....cute rub-ons!

Don't you just love it?  These kits are only available while supplies last, so you'll want to order early.  Visit my Stampin' Up website anytime to place your order.

I've got more cards made with this kit to share with you this week and I'll have details about my upcoming Easter Stamp-a-stack featuring these cards.

Chocolate & Stamping

 Chocolatehearts

This is my swap card for my downline meeting tomorrow.  For the card swap, everyone makes about 15 cards of the same style to swap with one another.  It's a lot of fun and a great way to get some creative ideas to take home & share with our customers!

I used the Mojo Monday 124 Sketch again for the layout.  You'll also notice some of my recent favorites....Chocolate Satin Ribbon, the I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set, and the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder.  I kept the color pallette very simple with Very Vanilla, Kraft, and Chocolate Chip...looks like yummy chocolate, doesn't it?  The patterned paper is from the Chocolate Chip Patterns Designer Series Paper pack and the greeting is from the Whimsical Words stamp set.

More Faux Mosaic

Pinkvalentine

Today, I'm sharing 2 more cards that will be part of my faux mosaic demonstration at this weekend's downline meeting.  The first card features the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set.  I have so many scraps of the Sending Love paper from all of my recent projects for Valentine's Day.  I had a piece that fit the bottom of the card perfectly, then I used various scraps cut randomly into triangles for the mosaic piece.  Once all the pieces were adhered to the sticky sheet, I sprinkled iridescent ice embossing powder on the open areas, then heated until melted with the heat tool.  I love the way the embossing powder picks up the sparkle from the paper, don't you?

The focal piece was stamped with the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and the Well-Scripted stamp set.  Since I purchased both of these stamp sets in the clear mount version, I was able to line them up on my acrylic block to ensure proper placement before stamping.  What a timesaver!

I stamped the filigree heart onto a small piece of Whisper White card stock, cut it out and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The card was also embellished with the Pink epoxy brads and pink satin ribbon.

Happiness The second card really sparkles and would be perfect for a wedding or anniversary.  To create the mosaic piece, I started with scraps of the Bride Specialty paper cut into triangles, adhered them to the sticky sheet, then embossed with silver embossing powder.

I used the Mojo Monday sketch from a few weeks ago to design the layout.  The card also features the Whimsical Words stamp set, Groom Specialty paper, and black satin ribbon.  The ovals were cut with the Ovals die and the Big Shot.

I hope you've enjoyed these samples of the Faux Mosaic technique.

Mosaic Mojo 124

Mojo124My group of demonstrators was scheduled to meet on Saturday, but Mother Nature had other plans.  Due to the snow, we had to reschedule our meeting to next week.  That was okay, because it gave me a little more time to fine-tune my technique demonstration.  My presentation is on the Faux Mosaic technique.

This technique is great for using up small scraps of paper, and who doesn't have a ton of scraps lying around?   You start by cutting your scraps into small pieces.  These can be any size or shape that you like.

I used the sticky pages (Item # 114300, $6.95) and cut the 12"x12" sheets down to a more manageable size.  You'll need to cut a piece of cardstock the same size as your sticky piece, and adhere them together.  Peel the red backing off and your ready to start.

Place your scrap pieces onto the sticky card stock.  You can do this randomly or follow a pattern--anything goes!  Once you have placed all your pieces, sprinkle glitter or embossing powder on the card stock, filling in the gaps.  If you are using embossing powder, heat until melted.

I'll share my other card samples with you later this week.  Here are the supplies used on this card:

STAMP SET:  Well-Scripted

Ink:  Chocolate Chip

Paper:  Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper

Accessories:  1/2" circle punch, scallop oval punch, full heart punch, scallop edge punch, Fine Galaxy Stampin' Glitter, Chocolate Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Movers & Shapers die, Big Shot, Sticky pages

Chocolate & A Birthday = YUM!

On Saturday evening, we were invited to a birthday party for my husband's uncle.  He and his wife have just moved into a new house within the last month and this was their first opportunity to entertain.  His wife mentioned to me earlier in the week that the birthday boy was craving more of the dark chocolate turtles that I had made for the holidays.  I'm also a little creative when it comes to chocolate!

So, here is what we took to the happy couple as a housewarming/birthday gift:

Stevegift1

I filled the bucket with turtle-making necessities so that she can make more in the future.  In case you are wondering, I use Peter's caramel and dark chocolate melting discs.  The bucket was topped off with some cute Valentine's kitchen towels.  Who can't use kitchen towels, right?

The little tin contains one dozen dark chocolate turtles.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but I used the Hugs Sending Love Note directly on top of the tin.  It was backed with Basic Black card stock, stamped with the I Heart Hearts stamp set, and I added a to:/from: section behind the belly band.  The Kiss Sending Love Note is stamped with a greeting from the Whimsical Words Sale-a-Bration stamp set and features a glittered red heart.  I love the way this coordinates with the bucket.

Stevegift

Just a reminder, when you purchase the I heart Hearts stamp set, Stampin' UP! will donate $2 to the Red Cross for Haiti.  I have some more projects coming up with this stamp set that I'll be sharing with you soon.  You are definitely going to want this stamp set!!!
